12-day Fantasy and parks vacation-ganza! (Part 4 - random closing nuggets)
Few thoughts in closing...
Bus service was okay but the thing that drives me nuts about the buses is that there is no sense of urgency for anything. Loading people, unloading, driving, making a light, etc. I realize it’s WDW and I’m used to the efficiency of an urban bus system, and I just tell myself that I need to pack some patience and I’m on vacation and I need to relaaaax. One morning I was dying to get to MK early and we waited for a long time for a bus. Normally our building was the last stop before getting out and on the road but this guy went – slowly – back through the resort and dropped people off way down at the Trinidad South section. I guess they’d forgotten something? Good customer service for them, but the rest of us had to endure this extra ride…then he drove soooo slowly to the park and then after we pulled in stood up and chatted with us for a minute before opening the doors!
My casual clothes are all black and I noted to my wife that I could not pack all black for a cruise and Disney trip in the heat of May, so I swallowed some pride and bought five identical mint green t-shirts, which would only look okay on someone in a gum commercial or someone on a Caribbean vacation; I figured what the heck, I’m not going to see any of these people again anyway. So if you were on a cruise and saw a guy in the same horrific mint green shirt day after day, that was me, and I promise it wasn’t actually the same unwashed shirt each day.
About 15-20 years ago or so scads of women decided it was awesome to get tattoos…back tattoos and Asian symbols and dragons and the like. These women are now 40-45 and are “soccer moms” with the appropriate accompanying body shapes, clothing, kids, responsibilities, etc. And the tattoos now look absolutely ridiculous (both for the age-inappropriateness and for how they’ve changed shape with changing skin). This also goes for many of these women’s husbands, I should note. And tugging at your swimsuit is never going to cover up that flaming skull so just stop wasting your time!
If this offends you, chances are I saw your tattoo in the last two weeks.
My ear gauges, however, are timeless.

I guess that's why I've always opted to rent a car while at Disney World - I'm just too overanxious to get where I'm going that I don't want to wait for the buses!
Happy to read that your trip was a good one. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us!

FANTASTIC! As a mom who had to talk a daughter out of the ear gauging and septum piercing...I appreciate this so much!
Great report. So glad you had fun. Thank you for the tales!

"It's snowing still," said Eeyore gloomily.
"So it is."
"And freezing."
"Is it?"
"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."

It always seems like when you are in a rush things take longer than usual. But glad you had a good time!

WDW buses are not my first choice for transportation. Renting a car is worth the extra $ to me
Thanks for sharing your trip.

Great wrap up... and thanks for making the reason why I was NOT one of the scads of women (and/or men) who got tatoos on their backside years ago so plainly evident... I'm a nurse, and I see the crazy way tatoos in weird places end up years down the road on a daily basis. NOT pretty, for the most part... and sometimes deliriously hilarious!
So glad your trip was so fun!!
