Mar. 6, 2005 – Disney’s ABC Premiere Event “Oprah Winfry Presents: Their Eyes Were Watching God” aired.
Mar. 6, 2006- Give Kids the World, a non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses (such as visiting WDW and other Florida attractions) celebrated their 20th anniversary. A week-long celebration kicked off at WDW’s Magic Kingdom with actor & Disney fan John Stamos (a long time friend of GKTW).
Mar. 6, 2007 – Disney’s 2-disc Platinum Edition DVD “Peter Pan” was released.
Mar. 6, 2007 – Tom Onosko, who helped refine Epcot, passed away at his home in Madison, WI. Known as the go-to guy for the future, Onosko accurately forecasted how technology would alter the entertainment landscape. Before joining Walt Disney Imagineering as a consultant in 1987. Onosko was a journalist who covered technology and pop culture.
Mar. 6, 2008 – Celebrity Chef Cat Cora celebrated with Mickey Mouse at the debut of her knew show on Disney Travel on Demand’s Season 2 at an event held at WDW.
Mar. 6, 2008 – Shareholders of The Walt Disney Co. held their 2008 Annual Meeting in New Mexico.
Mar. 6, 2009 – The Inaugural “Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend” began at the WDW Resort.
Mar. 6, 2010 – The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors announced the winners of the Image of the Year Awards and Best Dressed Public Safety Awards during the 2010 NAUMD Convention & Expo in Las Vegas, Nv. (The Restaurant Fine Dining Award went to The Walt Disney Co. for “Sanaa,” a restaurant located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, and the Sports Arena Award was given to The Walt Disney Co. for ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Mar. 6, 2011 – Disney held a Los Angeles premiere of the animated “Mars Needs Moms” at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, Ca. (The movie would be released in theaters Mar. 11th)
Mar. 6, 2012 – Disney’s newest cruise ship the “Disney Fantasy,” sailed into its home port of Port Canaveral, Fl., on this day in preparation for its maiden voyage to the Eastern Caribbean on Mar. 31st.
