    Default Resorts have wheelchairs?

I read that the resorts have free wheelchairs. Does anyone know anything about this? Does Pop have them?

Yes, POP does have them. My mom had to use them on several trips. They are on a first come, first serve basis. I believe if they do run out, they will try to transfer one from another resort.

We checked into these last year. They are for Resort use only and cannot be taken to the parks. We rented them in the parks each day because DH didn't want to deal with them on the busses. Next trip we will go with an off site vendor because they are cheaper and it was a long walk to the busses. They do have some you can use at the front of the park and then you leave them at the bus stop though.

....although it may not be SOP (standard operating procedure) ...my brother's family was at AoA last year and they gave him a resort wheelchair for his son ...and said there was no problem with taking it to the parks and they kept it the whole stay. My nephew can walk but has autism and tends to 'wander', and it's just easier to get him through the parks with the wheelchair. Getting on the buses was no issue because it folded up to be no larger than a stroller.

I'm sure the CM was wrong...they are for resort use only...especially if someone walks away with it at the parks...YOU will be paying for the replacement...there aren't many available, and they are more for emergencies...if you know you need a chair...RENT ONE...be considerate of other people who may need on just at the resorts.

If you think you're going to need it, don't rely on the resort.

DD needed one last trip, due to an ankle injury. We rented one in the parks, but one night she just couldn't manage to walk back to the room. So, I went to the front desk and asked if we could borrow a wheelchair for her, just to get her back to the room.

The CM wasn't pleasant about it at all, she was actually rather "prickly" about it and I had to promise a number of times that I wouldn't keep it; that I would bring it right back when we were done with it.

The next time (if) DD still needs it, we'll just rent one off-site, so we have it all of the time.
