Room requests at OKW for my mom????
I am taking my mom in early March 2013 for the first time with some fairly limiting physical issues. She has very limited use of her left foot and can't step up or down easily. She uses a cane to get around however she is not stable for very long. I will be renting a scooter for her for our stay.
We are staying at OKW for the first time. I just read that there are no elevators at this resort. I am renting points so I can't request a room ahead of time (at least that is what I have been told/read). I am very concerned that we may not get a room on the 1st floor. We will be in a 2 bedroom villa. I am just concerned because there is no way my mom is making it up and down stairs.
Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Julie

Have the person you rented from put in a request for 1st floor due to medical reasons. You could request also to be put in one of the three bldg that up have elevators. Close to a bus stop would be good too!

I would definitely have the person you are renting from put in a request for a 1st floor room. Will she need handicapped facilities inside the room? If so, I would suggest that be requested as well. I'd also suggest requesting a room as close to Hospitality House as possible.

This is my first time dealing with this kind of situation. I didn't really think about a handicap room. I think I am going to talk to my mom to see what she thinks she may need. Is there a walk in shower in the regular rooms at OKW or is it a tub shower?

In a regular room it is a tub shower in some bathrooms and walk-in in others. In the 2 bedroom set up, it is a walk-in shower in the master bath and a tub shower in the 2nd bath.
Does she need things like handrails in showers or by the toilet? If she does you might think of an accessible room instead of a regular room.
Can I go "home" yet?
Mickey where are you?
