Default beach club going down hill

We just got back Saturday from a 5 night stay at the Beach Club - what has happened?! We stayed there for the first time two years ago and loved it - clean, pretty, clean, deluxe ammenties, clean. Not this trip!! We ended up moving from the first room because of ridiculously loud neighbors (husband and wife fighting at 6am with the tv blasting and kids screaming also at 6 am), that room you could hardly get the door wall open to the balcony, no longer are there Egyptian cotton sheets and towels (seems petty but it made me feel pampered and special), the sheets now are like sandpaper, and the room just looked worn out. The second room was disgusting!!! We were told it was already for us, we get in the room and the bathroom counter had dried tooth paste spit on the counter from the previous guests!!! After that we noticed it all over the back splash also. The toilet paper holders were dirty, the toilet tank was dirty, there was something red spattered on the wall, the shell on the front of the counter had a big chunk out of it and the scallops along the top of it were filled with dirt and dust. It was disgusting. The wet bar area had purple spatters on the walls on both sides, the door knob was coming apart to the balcony. The dresser was badly beat up along the bottom and needed to be replaced. It really was shocking compared to the first time we stayed there, terribly disappointing, this is supposed to be a deluxe resort. It was so bad, we have been visiting Disney World since 1992, it has been our only vacation spot and right now have no plans to return. I hate to be a Debbie Downer but over the years we have really noticed things going down hill.

Wow, so wrong. I'm not a big fan of the Beach Club, but I stayed last year and it was clean and neat with excellent service, just not my vibe. I'm sorry to hear about your issues and I think I would have been complaining until they got it right.

In my own recent experiences, this type of post can be written about probably every resort on WDW property.

I just stayed at the WL for ICOT15 and the first room I was given was AWFUL looking, and it was JUST renovated. I'm talking, within the past MONTH. It was a handicap accessible room on the 1st floor (I don't need an HA room) But still, the room just had a very shabby feel to it, the ceiling fan was old and loud, the AC unit was rattling like mad, the lights were dim and the furniture just looked beat up. The bathroom was downright gross. The only thing that was clean in there was the toilet, but the bathtub grout was black and moldy and the tiles were old. It was just gross. I asked for a new room (nicely, by the way) and was given an upgraded view Courtyard room on the 5th floor. WOW...what a difference. It was literally night and day. The new room was spotless and everything looked brand new and CLEAN. I don't understand it, to be honest. The new room I was put in looked like no one had ever stayed in it.

It's just how it is. We've had absolutely beautiful rooms at the BC both times we've stayed there (most recently, Dec 2011) but the one time I stayed at BWI CL, the room was shabby to no end.

I blame management at these hotels. Really, they should inspect EVERY room at the resort on a regular rotating basis, and take rooms out of service that are not up to par. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen. So, you roll the dice.

So sorry you had a less than magical time at BC. That is never a good way to leave your vacation!

I was there for Icot15 and had a wonderful stay. My room was clean and very well maintained.

We are DVC members and had the same experience at Old Key West last year. Newly renovated room had soiled carpet, gouged walls and mold in the bathroom.

I sent a letter to Claire Bilby and complained. I received a phone call and told the rep that if it happened again I would be selling my membership.

We now stay at Pop Century and the housekeeping and service is far superior to the DVC.

I had an issue in a one bedroom at BCV. The drawers in the kitchen were literally falling apart. I'd go to open a drawer and the face panel would come right off. I called but nothing was done while I was there.

Whenever we've had an unacceptable room we've asked to be switched. Only once were we told that the hotel was full, but I'm convinced that's because we didn't visit the front desk.

Once when we stayed at Vero Beach our room furniture was covered with sugar ants. We were moved to another room that when we opened the door had love bugs all over the beds because housekeeping had left the balcony door open. On visiting the front desk to be moved again, the CM commented, don't they have bugs in Illinois? As if we were being unreasonable. But we were moved to a fine room.

There are few cases where you can't be accommodated if your room is unacceptable, even if it means moving you to another resort.

We had been moved once because of the loud neighbors. There was a big issue with rooms because people were not leaving because of Sandy (no ones fault, my heart goes out to the folks who have been affected). Maybe I am expecting too much from Disney but a Disney vacation is NOT CHEAP, we saved for two years to go again. Is a clean room too much to ask for in that price range? There was blood on the bathroom wall!! That is a dangerous case of a room not being cleaned! No matter what price range! This should not happen at any hotel. We should have complained and I am kicking myself for not. The first time we switched rooms the cast members we spoke to were fantastic, they were so nice. This is the first time in many years of visiting we have had a room this filthy and each trip we see more and more issues with maintenance. Could it be because it was so busy? Maybe.

Sorry you had a bad experience. For a Deluxe Accommodation in the "Happiest Place on Earth," that is not acceptable.

We had a similar situation in Caribbean Beach last year. Our Pirate-themed room was not in good condition. We found a hair on our coffee machine when we arrived, so we never used it. Our room was never well cleaned. Our floor sloped, so the dresser drawer kept opening on its own. (You could see they stuffed cardboard under the front dresser corners to help level it out, but it didn't work.) It just had a dirty feel to it all around.

This time, we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and had the exact opposite experience. Our room was spotless. The resort was spotless. We were very please. I guess it comes down to management, then to each individual mousekeeper.

Interesting that Pop housekeepers do a great job. I love that resort and am always delighted with the clean rooms.

Hope the Disney management sees the posts here and takes care of those sub-standard rooms, especially at the Deluxe level where people pay BIG bucks for the privilege.

For what you pay, don't be afraid to complain if the room is dirty. Sorry it turned out that way for you

We were at WL in Sept. We had a newly renovated room. We were staying for almost 2 weeks. It rained a few times while we were there. So the first week, one day after it rained we came back to the room wet and so turned on the heat to dry out and warm up. Heat worked fine. In the beginning of the second week, I got sick and came back to the room after a long day - rained on - and was chilled. Turned on the heat and it blew colder air than the A/c did. I personally went downstairs and I think they felt sorry for me - so sent up the maintenance person right away. Heat was broken!! best he could do was stop the cold air from blowing so strongly. He did offer to switch our rooms, but after being there a week and now being sick - i did not want to pack everything up and move.
Then a day or two later - NO WATER whatsoever!! Called the desk and they said they'd send someone up asap. No one came. No one called to say water was fixed after it worked again. Thought this was poor service and especially since it was a newly renovated room!

I took pictures of the nastiness, I just have to figure out how to post them. I should send copies to someone at Disney.
