    Default Alaska vs. Caribbean

Ok, this poll is only for those of you who have cruised both Alaska and the Caribbean.

Given a choice, which would you cruise on again?

Oops -- I cheated -- I voted without having been on an Alaska cruise. I've done a number of Caribbean cruises and a Mexican Riviera. And if money were no object, my next cruise would be in Europe or Asia!

As it is, though, my next cruise is a 3-nt. Bahamas on the Dream. Oh, poor me!

Been on 3 Caribbean cruises (NCL) and have no immediate desire to return.

However, another sailing from Vancouver to Glacier Bay, or the like, is on the short list for our next cruise.

    I guess I will have to give a non-answer.

If you want to cruise in Summer, I would say Alaska. If you want to cruise in Spring or Winter, I would say Caribbean. If your choice is fall, I would reconsider.

If your ideal vacation involves lots of time on a beach, and lots of swimming in the ocean, then the Caribbean.

Many people choose base on the ease of getting to and from the ship from your home town. Some don't.

If you are going with the intent that the ship is your destination, then go with what is cheaper or easier.

I have been both places at least twice (although not both on DCL). Alaska wins for scenery. Caribbean often wins for logistics and time of year when I want to cruise.

I agree that fall can be a dodgy time of year for cruising, at least on the eastern seaboard/Caribbean because of hurricanes. But I bet fall would be a workable time for a cruise in Europe, and if you're willing to risk the weather issues, there are cruises that go to New England and the Canadian Maritimes that would be gorgeous in the fall.
