Just had to share that I was able to book a 2br villa at GCVs (7 mo. window) this morning for our April vacation! Now I have to figure out what airport to fly into (LAX or SNA).
SNA. Wouldn't fly into LAX unless the airline paid ME to do so.
I prefer SNA, too, but flying out of a small city it means I will have to change planes at least two times and I am concerned about lost luggage. Fortunately, I have a little time to make my decision!
You also have to consider the time you will be landing. After our flight into LAX in June, we were on the road a little after 1 pm and the traffic was not a problem. If you'll be getting on the road way after that time, it may lead to sitting in traffic. We too had to choose LAX over SNA because of price and because we didn't want a connecting flight. Either way, have a great time planning your vacation!
I'm getting ready for my first trip out there with my family as well! If it's price for the SNA vs LAX (and not just number of connections) - just keep an eye on airline prices. Tuesday-Wednesday are good days to buy airline tickets. I was thinking I'd have to fly into LAX b/c I couldn't find decent airfare into SNA, but I kept watching it and ended up finding airfare to SNA as cheap as LAX. Or - at least within the budget! I've just heard that it's worth a few extra dollars (if it's within budget) to fly into SNA.
Have a great time!
