Not if the credit card system malfunctions.

cash...i always carry it, but never use it....but it is good to have for a variety of reasons including charge sytem going down, an issue with just your card or room key (we had this happen once), and a number of unlikely (but possible) scenarios where you might end up off property (say an ER) or if for some reason (say a bout of food poisoning or stomach flu) you need to get to your room quickly and choose to go the taxi route.

I like to have some cash on me. I do not carry a lot but I do like to have some on me. The street vendors that sell the light up toys before the parade we have always paid for with cash. Also the balloon sellers we have always paid cash for the balloons. I have never thought to ask if they take cards. They are rolling carts so I just assumed they only take cash. Also the rare vendor that does not take cards and one time I did have a problem with using my room card to charge on and needed money on me to cover the charges that day till I was able to figure out what was wrong.

I see alot of people said $20 or something around there. I would bring maybe $40 in $1's and $5. As they said snacks and also for tipping taxi's, bellhops etc... Other than that its not too needed.

Typically have charges everything back to room account, but we do carry a little bit for small items/snacks. It's still hard for me not to have some cash, but my teenagers tend to clean me out. Not carrying any means I can tell them "sorry, I'm tapped out".
