I'm comparing a textbook manuscript against a published textbook to see if there are instances of plagiarism. 700 pages of...pain.

How are you spending your afternoon? If you post something along the lines of "Oh I'm having fun doing this really cool thing" the rest of us will shun you with our disdain of people not doing boring things.

Yuck. There isn't a program that can do a comparison?

I am revising a very boring work instruction on how to process a form while being regularly interrupted by a 4 year old who was sent home sick from day care and has had a miraculous recovery. At the rate I am going , it will be done at midnight.

Reading through the Internal Revenue Code from the IRS to see if I can find information of their guidelines fo audits.

At least I've narrowed down the section.

Well, I've spent my day lying in a hammock on the beach being fed grapes by beautiful women and having conversations with fascinating people. Yeah, that's the ticket. Along with my wife...Morgan Fairchild.

I have spent the last 4 hours waiting on 5 o'clock. Looked at recipes on the internet. Checked out the jail bookings web site and finally just Googled "Honey Boo Boo".
    Time to go home.

Ugh...none of those sound even remotely fun! Except, of course, lying in the hammock on the beach. I am not doing anything nearly that boring....just cleaning my house in avoidance of having to go into the basement and work out on the elliptical. Of course, with the occasional break to check out Intercot

I confess, I spent the day sleeping... but only because I worked a 12hr shift at the hospital last night, I swear. Now am trying to catch up here while my girls try to tell me everything they did today at the exact same moment, our new puppy is clamoring for attention, our poor 9yr old lab is giving me the evil eye and I hear the microwave chirping that something someone put in there must be done... and might have been since this morning....

I might not mind going over IRS documents or manuscripts at the moment...

Sadly I can't use a computer for my task because I only have a hard copy of one of the books so I can't do a machine comparison. Even so, a machine can only tell me if words are the same, but if they lifted features, approaches to math, or even copied the organization of the content I have to do that with my sad, tired, bored, easily distracted human

Worked what feels like the longest day ever scheduling inspections of fire systems, along with the little minuscule other tasks that were passed on to me through a million phone calls.

Spent most of the day inside, actually spent most of the last 2-3 days inside due to Hurricane Isaac. I think we all have cabin fever at this point. Good thing the kids go back to school tomorrow!

I spent most of the day watching TV, on Intercot, and tracking Hurricane / Tropical Storm Issac to see if there is a possiblity that my flight Sunday would get delayed or worse, cancelled to WDW.

Other than that twiddling my thumbs comes to mind...

    OK, I'm officially BORED.

I just learned that Honey Boo Boo (Child)'s mother is 2 years younger than me, has a 17 year old daughter, and is about to become a grandma at the age of 32!

And, I learned that because I watched 2 minutes of that Godawful show.

    I need a hobby.

My dad lives with me, and I work at home. It's like having a toddler again. He comes in and out of my office, interrupts me when I'm working, and wants me to chat or play a game. It's very hard to be interrupted when you're writing, but even worse to be interrupted by your dad when you're trying to craft an emotional love scene- ack! Just imagine. No, don't.

Anyway, today he wanted to cook together. We made his traditional family recipe for pasties (meat pies). I thought it would show him that I care instead of always having me get annoyed with him for interrupting me, but now I'm afraid he's going to expect a father-daughter activity every day. So that was my day. Now I'm finally alone but too tired and too stuffed to write. But apparently, not bored. So you all win.

OK, I can't compete for work time. I get to play with Disney all day, how can that be boring! But this evening I attended a University Convocation for my daughter. I wasn't really sure what to expect with this and I am still trying to figure out the reason for it. We sat in a hot airless room (about 200-300 of us) while 6 different people got up and talked about "how to succeed in College." Then they had entertainment from the Drama department where somebody gave a dramatic reading...of a speech of how to succeed in college. Then 2 college students got up and spoke (guess what they talked about?). After all of this (about 90 minutes) they introduced THE GUEST SPEAKER. She was at least entertaining, but at this point we had spent 2 hours listening to pretty much the same stuff over and over. One or two speakers would have been fine but it was too hot and too long. At least I didn't have my daughter's schedule. She had to be there at 2 PM and came home when I did around 8:30.
