Special birthday request

Hello all! This is my frist DW trip in 3 years!!! We're staying at a VR and its all a surprise for my son's birthday. We're putting him in the car and telling him we're gong to Great Wolf Lodge for his birthday and he will be well surprised! I'm wondering if the resort will out a sign in the room window for when we get there? I could mail it ahead of time. This would be going above and beyond, but do you think they could do it? Just trying to make his birthday extra special. Thanks!

I may very well be wrong, but I kind of doubt they would do this, especially since WDW has several "you pay for it" gift/surprise/welcome items available. you can always ask though...and even if they can't/don't do that they might do something else to make his surprise a little more special.

No, they can't do this; the room isn't "yours" until they hand you the key card, it could be reassigned to someone else at any time. So they never place anything in the room before you arrive.

Tell the front desk you're celebrating your son's birthday when you check in, and ask for a birthday pin. Sometimes (not always) they send a card to the room.

Last Sunday I phoned Disney Flower and Gifts and ordered two Disney Welcome Baskets for my nephews.....I wanted them to have a magical experience.......Only one basket was sent, and I know this because their Mom Cindy called me to thank me for The Basket.....I said, "Are you kidding?" I ordered two.....So I called Disney back with the all important confirmation number, and "Oksana" the CM said they would correct it right away.....and they did.....I don't know if the magic was still there, I'm meeting my brother Victor and Cindy tonight at the RFC for dinner.....That will truly be magical, can't wait to get there..........

I would have your husband go with him and get a coke or something, while you say your going to the restroom and go put your goodies in the room or on the door. I also did a surprise at
a cinderella's royal table, I gave them a bag of goodies for the table when we checked in. Have a great time.

Don't sweat the arrival surprise. Get the pin and check in at the Town Hall (or equivolent at other parks) each day. We went for my daughters 8th birthday and she got tons of special attention:

The characters and cast members made a big deal over wishing her a happy birthday. At MK they handed her the phone and she got a birthday message from Goofy. At Epcot she got a free balloon hat and sword (DS too). At MK we got special VIP seating for the Indiana Jones show. She got a birthday card from the cast on the Great Movie ride. (They asked her name as we boarded and they had a card waiting for her at the end of the ride) AND free special desserts at sit down restaurants.

She still talks about all these things.

I was thinking of this same thing. Have DH take your son to get he luggage and then see the pool. You go decorate and meet up at the pool with them. The look on his face will be priceless when he sees it.
