Default No Planes, but trains and automobiles – Part 5 – Disney’s Beach Club – Club Level Jul

    Cast:
DH – Brian (CanadianWDWFan) Turning 45 on this trip
DS14 – Harry – Celebrating graduating from Grade 8 (High School already?!?!?)
DS8 ˝ – Euan – Celebrating his Half-Birthday because we can’t go down in January
Me – Jennifer – Just happy to be making the trip with my guys!

DVC rooms cost more on the weekends, so we often opt to go out and stay at another resort and pay cash, then use our points during the following week. Originally, we had planned to stay in a Sugar Loaf Club Level room at the Grand Floridian, but with all the construction around the pool and elsewhere, we decided that we would rather stay somewhere else when we were spending so much money. So, a week before we left, Terrisue at Magical Journey’s changed our reservation to the Beach Club. We had wanted to stay there, so all was great!

We went to Downtown Disney before going to the Beach Club, as we had received a 20% coupon (before noon) from Pinocchio’s, and there were some things we wanted to purchase … china travel mugs for my sister and I, a beach towel for Brian, a new shirt for Harry and a Poisoned Apple decorative plate that we wanted for the dining room at home.

We were greeted at the valet by a young man who whisked us through the lobby and up to the 5th floor of the building, where we were greeted by Hyacinth, who got us all set up. We had paid for a water view room, and the one they had set aside for us was not ready, so Hyacinth recommended another one, further away from the lounge, but with a useable balcony. We agreed, and while Brian and I were looking after that stuff, another lady went to retrieve chocolate chip cookies and cold drinks for the boys. They were really genuinely nice people. Our room overlooked Stormalong Bay and Crescent Lake, and we could see our last room at the Boardwalk across the way. We quickly changed, then headed down to find some lounges at the pool.

We enjoyed our time at the pool … a great water slide, and lots of space, but our favourite part was the “Lazy river” section over by the Yacht Club. After a while we got hungry, and got some burgers at Hurricane Hannah’s (where a duck pooped on my foot, but that’s another story), and were back in the pool. Hours later, when we were completely water logged, we headed back up to our room to get cleaned up and head out to MK. We stopped in the lounge and got some cold drinks and snacks on our way. Then we stopped in the lounge and got some cold drinks and hors d’oeuvres before heading down to the bus over to MK. It was EMH at MK, and we were able to make our way around and do lots, including the new Dumbo and the revamped Barnstormer. We kind of hit the wall at 11:30, and grabbed the bus back to the Beach Club, where our room was turned down and chocolates were waiting on our pillows. Very nice.

On Saturday, Harry wanted to go to the Studios, so we did ... after grabbing a quick breakfast in the lounge. We took the boat, and the Security check was not too horrible when we arrived. Our first stop was Star Tours, where the wait time was only 10 minutes, so we grabbed Fast Passes and then rode Stand By. It’s such a great ride now (and doesn’t make me ill any longer!). After riding twice, we headed around to the Muppets (which was lined up out the door and around the queue … so we bypassed it) to see if Phineas and Ferb were out. Euan loves Phineas and Ferb, and is willing to wait in the sun and heat to see them. The wait was not nearly as long as it was last year, and before we knew it, the guys were coming to grab Euan to join them in their backyard. Phineas motioned to me that he wanted to sign Euey’s new Agent P hat, so after clearing it with him, I said sure, and they did. What a great keepsake! They spent plenty of time interacting with Euan and he really really enjoyed the experience. Then we met up with Harry and Brian (who were taking photos). Harry wanted to eat, so we went over to the Sci Fi to see if we could get in at one of the picnic tables. It was no problem and we had a nice cool lunch break. After lunch we went over and rode the Great Movie Ride and then made our way back to the gates to catch the boat back to the Beach Club.

We stopped in at the lounge for some cold drinks, then got changed and headed down to Stormalong Bay. We ended up with the same lounges that we had the day before, and enjoyed the afternoon floating about in the pool. We again enjoyed the lounge in the evening (the selection was better than the night before), before wandering around the resort that night. The boys spent some time at the Arcade and then we borrowed some movies from the lounge and hung out in the room for the rest of the night. Brian went and got some coffee and desserts later on. It was a really good day.

Another great day. My kids love Stormgalong Bay. I think my daughter could spend the whole day there.

We met Phineas & Ferb at the MVMCP last year but we've never met them at DHS. I might have to put that on our list for October.

It seemed that every time we ate at a QS place we got the 20% discount coupon. We used the 20% discount on several occasions!
