What is the deal with Pleasure Island??

Hi All! Finally I get to plan another trip! I haven't been on this board in ages! So, is PI open, closed or whats the deal? TIA

There's pretty much nothing left. Empty buildings and a restaurant or two I believe...

Were going to eat for the 1st time at Raglan Road in Oct. Is this located in Pleasure Island? If not where is it located? We too have not ventured past Fultons the last 2 trips. Its a ghost town.

It's close to Fulton's. It's # 26 on this map of DTD.

I hear Raglan is supposed to be a really great place to eat. I dont have it in my plans this trip but next trip I might squeeze it in. As for PI, any rumors about 'something' being put in there? It's kinda in the way. I do always make my walk from DTD to West Side and back but there really isn't anything there that peaks my interest either. Just DTD is it.

We eat at Raglin for lunch just about every trip. The food is good and the atmosphere is great. We hear its a lot of fun at night but have to make it there then. We always walk though PI but there is really nothing there anymore (does anyone remember New years every night, AC the comedy warehouse), its just sad now. I know there got to be a rough edge to the place but really this was the only fix? And what happened to the Hyperion Wharf idea? Last I heard they were taking another look at the plan but was it cancelled all together?

My sister and I were down at WDW last October and visited the late Pleasure Island. It's gone from a fun place to visit with the clubs,etc. to(except for Disney Quest) merely a shop and eat area. When we first went there we loved it, our favorites being the AC and the Comedy Warehouse. Now their sites are used for STORAGE. Still don't know they couldn't have moved them to another park. (or re-opened them):

It is sad! It's quite depressing down there.

I know that the place became a little more "wild" than what it had been in the past. However, NO more wild IMO than any other adult entertainment area or CityWalk.

In the end, it came down to dollars and cents. Disney wasn't clearing enough money off the deal and thought they could make more money by filling it with stores and eateries. The economy took a big dip soon after, and the rest is history...

CityWalk over at Universal is a great alternative and I recommend it. However, it's just not the same.

eat at RR its good.
otherwise PI is just a walk thru from West side to East. idk even the WOD disney store doesnt seem as good.
