    Default Curious...3D

So, my dad is legally blind in one eye. Therefore, he can't see dimensions. So, 3D attractions...does it just look flat, or is it blurry and no fun? He's never really complained, but he tends to skip a lot of the 3D stuff.

I guess the question comes now because of star tours and toy story. He loved the old star tours, and it was closed when we were there last time...but will he even get to enjoy it now?

He should wear the glasses and enjoy! The image will be flat, so some shows (I'm thinking philharmagic) where they are sticking things out into your face won't quite be the same, but he can get the idea. Not wearing the glasses will give double images and blurriness.

For Star Tours and Toy Story I wouldn't think that the 3d would make a big difference. Well, maybe a bit on TSM with the shooting and depth perception.

My wife does not have binocular vision. She sees out of both eyes just fine, but only one image gets to the brain - not the "normal" two images that the brain uses to interpret depth, She has, of course, learned to compensate a bit, but still has poor depth perception. The 3D effects are completely lost on her, but that doesn't keep her from enjoying the 3D attractions. Mickey's Philharmagic is one of her favorite attractions, and the lack of depth perception certainly doesn't prevent her from enjoying (and scoring exceptionally well) on Toy Story Mania. She says that even without being able to see the 3D effects, the new Star Tours is "way better" than the original.

You do still have to wear the glasses though, since the it's the glasses that separate the two separate images in the movie so that each eye sees only one.

    Hope this helps.

Things will look a bit fuzzy, and definitely flat. But - without the 3D glasses, it's all fuzz.

    Use the glasses & enjoy!

This is great to know. I am legally blind in one eye also and I stayed away from the 3D rides fearing disappointment. Now that i know I would be able to see at least part or some of the ride, I'm going for it next time!! :-)

My DH only has one eye, and yes, he has to still wear the glasses so everything looks "normal". No 3D of course, but at least it's not blurry with the glasses on...
