Magical Journey's - No response?
How long does it take to receive a reply from MJ? I submitted our quote request on May 25th and figured with the holiday weekend we wouldn't hear back from them until after monday. Then we got busy with our move and now I notice that I still have not heard back from them.
How long should it take?

I check my spam multiple times a day. I am sort of ocd about spam in my spam box so I clean it out often. I don't have a specific agent and answered that this was our first time using MJ.

I'm surprised you haven't heard back yet. They're usually very prompt. I would submit again. They will probably see you posting here and solve the issue right away.

We had an issue when we originally were planning our current trip where their system did not receive our request, we resubmitted it a few days later and had a response that day. Try again, technology sometimes has it's quirks.

I know someone else who had a similar issue and ended up just booking themselves. Sounds like there might be some email problem on their end.

I can assure you that forms are answered promptly, it is something the agents take pride in.
There are 3 reason people do not hear back from us.
The most common reason is email blocking between our servers and your ISP/email provider. It seems that some of the links and wording we use can trip SPAM filters. This is the most frustrating for us because we do not know if you are not responding since you decided to book elsewhere, or if you did not receive the email. We do not like to be a hard sell, but we try and send one follow up email to garner a response.
Another reason could be that there was not sufficient information given for us to quote anything, we usually send an email telling folks that. We cannot quote without knowing children's ages etc.
Lastly, and hardest for us, are the people who habitually price or who have used us over and over for information then cancelled/booked on their own. The agents are only compensated for their time and knowledge upon completion of their clients vacation. To "pick the brain" of an agent for email after email and not book takes their attention away from clients who need their assistance.
Everyone from Friday the 25th has been quoted though.

I used MJ to book our upcoming trip (<60 days!!) and received a quick response from Wendy upon my initial request giving quoting me information but also letting me know that she would be unavailable for a few days because she would be at the Disney convention. I emailed her while she was away and received a response once she returned. Wendy has been quick to answer my emails. I was very surprised to see her quick response to an email I sent her after 10pm one night and she responded within 30 minutes. It was not an urgent email but she made me feel like a priority when she responds so quick to my emails, most times within an hour.
I would definitely suggest using Magical Journeys.
Maybe you could request another quote.

Yeah - I get answers from Wendy immediately all day, late into the night and before sunrise. I honestly don't think she has slept in several years!
It sounds like an email relay problem. I would just ask again for a quote.

I can assure you that it was not Nanci's intention to come off as curt. She was just trying to relay the reasons somoene might not promptly hear back from a MJ agent.
You will find nothing but scores of good recommendations for Magical Journey's on these boards, and they have worked hard for their outstanding reputation. Personally, I've used Wendy for years and I'm sure there are times she's ready to reach through the computer and strangle me, but she always comes through professionally and promptly. Bless her!
I would reconsider booking with them and then sit back and let them do all the leg work. I think this may have just been an unfortunate misunderstanding.

That's the trouble with written conversations... It's always subject to interpretation. More than likely she was not trying to be curt at all, but without hearing the words come out of her mouth and the tone she used, it is up to interpretation as it is read by the reader. It does not sound curt to me, just sounds like a straightforward answer about their business practices. Based on her response if you 1) have checked your spam folder, 2) included all information necessary on the form, and 3) are not a habitual requester, then you shouldn't have a reason to take offense to her response. Glitches happen with the Internet. Just retry your request.

I have never had an issue with the speed of Magical Journeys. But know that sometimes email gets lost. Sometimes network servers go down and things don't send through.
You may choose to believe that Nanci's post was "curt" and go with booking on your own, or you can take a step back and resend your request knowing that the cyber world isn't perfect. We rely on the internet for so much be we also forget that things screw up. Machines aren't perfect.
I did not find her post "curt" at all. I found it matter of fact, but not 'curt'.

I wish you luck with your planning. I would not count MJ out because of the response. I think if you submit and actually talk with one of the representatives, you will have a better feel than reading a response.
For the record, I do agree with you that the response from Tink sounded a little curt. When I read it, I was surprised by the way I read it as well. However, I do believe it was not meant to sound that way. I have been on the boards long enough to know that Magical Journey's is well loved by many who have used them. I have also usually always found the information that both Tink and Melanie supply to the board very helpful and informative.

I felt her response was curt was well...I agree I would call WDW yourself. I have always booked the trips myself I find that is part of the joy of the trip! enjoy!!!

Ok, this will be my last response on the matter as I did not think my OP was a big deal.
As I mentioned before Nanci's reply, I check my spam folder's daily. I use gmail and I do occasionally have things that end up in spam that should not...which is why I check it. However, my mac backs up all of my emails too so I would see it one way or another. On that note, I use firefox. I have had two websites that I could NOT submit an online form to because of firefox. I had to switch to safari for both. One was WDW's ADR site...I could not pull up my ADR's for a trip with Firefox and once I used safari I could find them and go into my account and make changes/updates. That is why I actually submitted this post...just wondering if I got lost (in submission) or the holidays were holding up replies.
In regards to filling out all info....I did. And as Nanci indicated...I would assume they would just email and ask if info was missing.
Lastly, I did have Kathy from MJ plan a 2009 trip for us. We had to cancel which is why I stated we have never used MJ before. I booked both of my 2010 trips by myself because I felt badly that I had cancelled the trip after all of her work. I have never done requests for each trip as I am very able to do my own bookings (which I have done via phone directly to WDW).
I thought I would use MJ for this trip since it is in Jan and I can not price it out on WDW's website. Also, I assume some PIN or General offer will become available and that they could make changes faster than I can once those become available. Also, I have just had a major move/change and my time is more limited than it has been in the past.
I assumed if anyone from MJ saw my post...they would respond by saying they were backed up and would be getting to my request shortly or that they did not receive it and to please PM or resubmit it to them and they would get back with me shortly.
I looked through my old emails because I didn't even know the name of the person I used. If my booking and cancellation in 2009 is cause for them to not want to book for me, then I am sorry that I took up Kathy's time (I apologized then and felt very badly about it) I am a single parent and life and $ some times requires me to make changes to my plans. It was unintentional but I do NOT repeatedly request pricing for my trips, as I have stated...I am very capable of using the WDW website and figuring out my own pricing. So I do not consider that I am such a person as Nanci described, none the less, it made me feel badly. I worked in a commissioned job for 10 years, I understand how one is paid for their time and would never do that to someone intentionally.
That's all I have to say on the matter.
