    Default Stroller Rental?

Anyone rent a stroller before? We're taking our son who will be five on Friday and I think he'll still need a stroller for the parks. I don't want to bring one on the plane (he won't need it in the airport) but haven't ever rented one before. Should I get a Disney one? Go through a rental company? He's 46" tall so I'll need more than a cheap umbrella stroller. HELP!

Get a Disney one and rent it for the whole time you're there, that way you just check it in and out at the front of the park each day and don't have to wait in line to pay, you just show them your voucher.

We are HUGE fans of Orlando Stroller Rental. They provide a wonderful service of delivering your stroller to your resort. It has your name on it and is a very nice, easily maneuverable stroller. You then leave it at your resort's front desk on departure and they will pick it up. We have used them for our last 3 trips. They are very reasonably priced. We prefer this to renting the park strollers because it allows us to take the stroller on the monorail, to the resort, to restaurants, etc. It is very convenient for us.

Also, consider when making your decision -

Getting a stroller on and off of a bus can be a pain depending on the stroller and how crowded the bus is.

Do you want a stroller to push your son from the bus/boat to the room instead of carry him if he happens to fall asleep.

Am I a huge disney fan? YOU BETCHA! I blame it all on my parents! They are the one's that walked around Disneyland all day to induce labor! Yep, I've been going to Disneyland since the day before I was born!

This is true. We don't use the bus system on property. We only use the monorail or our rental car, so for us the buses are not an issue, but I can see how it would be.

We used Magical Strollers...good prices and they deliver to the resort, and provide a free rain cover. Great service.

While doing research on rental companies I found that along with all the other companies mentioned babies r us actually does rentals now. From what I saw on the webite they had the best and most variety to choose from.

Just returned home and ended up renting a Phil & Teds single stroller from Orlando Strollers To Go and everything was great - we'll never bring down another one on the plane again! The stroller was easy to fold and carry on the buses and it fit my tall now five year old boy very well. He used it a lot and we were very happy we rented it. Thanks for all your comments!

Honestly, my opinion is that at 5, most kids don't need a stroller. Even my "lazy" son used his stroller at a Disney park for the last time at the age of 4 (just about to turn 5).

He was able to do about 6 straight hours in Disneyland right when he turned 5 and we took a trip in December (he was 5.5) and did great over a week at WDW. Only ONE day did he "drag" and whine a bit, but it was due to a blister. He was good as new after a good night's sleep.

My recommendation is to just slow down a bit, go at your son's pace. He will probably surprise you, and the freedom from a stroller will be bliss! Bonus points for having a kid who is DONE at the end of the night and who sleeps like a log at night.

Just don't push him. Don't keep him up any later than you do at home. We don't do late nights in the parks yet (our boys are now 6 and almost 8). 9:30 is about the limit to how late they can be at the parks, so we make sure we are out well before that.
