    Default Five days in NYC...

Looking to plan this starting now, since it is for August of this year. I have an idea of what we want to do, see etc. But I'm having a hard time in finding a place to stay.

We are looking to right at a Times Square Hotel. We just want to stay right in that specific area for at least one visit there. Looking for something clean and safe, of course.

Then also trying to decide do we do this by way of the comfort of a train, that may get us there in 4.5 hours or just stick with the bus, that may take 5 hours. Plus the bus cost $50 more. It seems obvious for this, but for whatever reason I am the only one wanting to go by train. So any opinions, ideas welcome.

    TIA

I would take the train over the bus anyday! A lot better ride.

We have only stayed overnight once in NYC and got a great rate at the Waldorf Astoria. It was a lot of fun and in a good area of town. We walked to the theatre district with no problem but we did take a taxi to and from the train station.

We've stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square and it was a great location for what we wanted to do. If you're looking to save a few $$$ then maybe try priceline -there are some good deals when naming your own price.

Tia, so cool that you're planning a trip to NYC too! We're going in about 5 weeks & I've been working on the planning off & on for a year! We've never been & there seems to be so much to do! I looked at accomodations forever! A friend of mine just went in the fall & stayed in NJ, got a great deal on a suite & it's 20 minute bus ride to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. This may not be for you, but it's what I finally settled on as there will be myself, DH & 2 teen DS's. I figured the 20 minute bus ride won't be much different than riding the Disney busses back & forth from parks to resort, so this was the best deal for us. All the NYC hotel roms were either tiny, expensive or only accomdated 2! We'll be driving as we're also visiting Niagara Falls & VA Beach so then we also would have to pay to park our vehicle. We're staying 3 nights, in a suite, hot continental breakfast and free on site parking for $4xx.xx total for 3 nights! I really wanted to stay around Times Square but I think this is a pretty good arrangement for us. Good luck, I know it's a lot to muddle through!

I just found my list where I had written some hotel names on it (that's how much I've been wanting to do this), and Crowne Plaza was on there.

Yes thank you for that. I have been planning before, but we were never sure if we were going to actually go. That's why I have a few notes here and there. But I think we will stick with our TS area stay, since we are not driving. And I'm already trying to decide about the "hop on/off busses", too.

DH and I were in NYC in August last year. We stayed at the intercontinental. Was safe and clean. I would stay there again!

If you look on a map, find Radio City Music Hall, St. Patricks and Times Square is not far. It was an easy walk to just about anywhere in Times Square and the Theatre District from the Waldorf Astoria. Maybe 10-15 minutes.
