    Default Preferred locations at CBR?

I've heard that CBR is so huge that it is a good idea to get the preferred rooms. Can you tell me where these are, and what "view" they have (or maybe there is still a choice of view? If so - how bad are the standard view rooms there).

At CBR, "preferred location" has nothing to do with view. Any view that is available anywhere in the resort is also available in preferred location rooms.

CBR is rather spread out. I've stayed there twice, I love the place, but I wouldn't choose to stay there without booking a preferred location room. MANY people feel differently, this is just my own opinion.

CBR has 33 guest room buildings, arranged in 6 villages. Six of those 33 guest room buildings are preferred location because those 6 buildings are the closest buildings to Old Port Royale, the complex that has the restaurant, food court, main pool, shops, arcade, and so on.

The preferred location buildings are Trinidad North 31, 32 and 33 (which are all of Trinidad North's buildings) and Martinique 24, 25 and 26 (which are half of Martinique's buildings).

For an additional per-night fee, CBR offers water view rooms. This can mean a view of the lake (Barefoot Bay) or a view of that village's quiet pool. ALL 6 VILLAGES have some water view rooms.

So therefore, there are some preferred location rooms that are also water view rooms.

HOWEVER (and here's where it gets complicated), Disney won't allow you to book/pay for/guarantee BOTH upgrades. In other words, you can't book a water view preferred location room. You can book a water view room and REQUEST a preferred location, or you can book a preferred location room and REQUEST a water view, but you can't guarantee both.

I hope that makes sense and answers your questions.

totally makes sense, thanks! Can you help me decide if I need to get a water view room? We always did at POR because I have images of staring straight out onto a parking lot...but I'm thinking maybe they aren't THAT bad, if there is some distance between the buildings and the lots and if there are trees or whatever for screening. I am arguing with myself that it is silly to worry about the "view" since I don't usually sit IN my room staring OUT ;-)

Opinions vary, but my very strong opinion is that I would never spend a penny on a "view" at any of the Moderate resorts.

As you know, the window and door open onto an exterior corridor. So if you have your curtain wide open to take in the view, then everyone walking by has a great view of YOU. As a result, when we've stayed in Moderates, we've had the curtains closed pretty much 100% of the time.

That being said, CBR has very thick vegetation. It opened in 1989 or so, so tghe bushes and trees are pretty thick. I had a so-called "parking lot" view both times, and I never remember noticing cars and so on.

I have stayed at CBR 5 or six times. I find that most people who did NOT like the resort complained of its size and their walk. I always have and always will pay for a preferred location. You are gonna drop several grand on the trip overall. A few hundred buckes INSURE's that you will be happy with your room location. It makes sure you are 2 minutes to the main pool, two minutes to the foodcourt. If walking and time are a major issue for you, ABSOLUTLY pay for the preferred, you will not be dissapointed. You may not be disappointed without is as well, but why take a chance??

We have stayed at CBR but not in a long time.
Just tell the cast member that you would like to
be close to the pool and food court. Disney does try to please you with your request but can't promise you that you will get your choice but it worth a try. Have a fun time. You will really like CBR.

Okay, I upgraded to the preferred rooms, and I will "request" a bay view in Martinique. I can see a big walk being an issue for us, so this should help - and I'd rather pay the money to guarantee it rather than trust to chance.

Martinique building 25 or 26....you will be thrilled. Try there rather than Trinidad North, it is a better location.
