Default Upgrading WDW AP to Premier AP

Can we convert our WDW AP to a "Premier" AP good for both WDW and DL?

We have WDW APs and planning a trip to DL in July. We'll be at WDW 5 nights in Feb for our wedding anniversary and would like to pay the difference and convert our WDW AP to a Premier AP. We've calculated the price difference and it's definitely a better deal for us to upgrade to Premier over buying DL Hoppers, even compared to the current DL hopper special (that ends before our trip). Upgrading in Feb. would also give us water parks, and more at WDW for our Feb trip and discounts on rooms, food, merchandise, etc. at DL.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Yes, you can do this, but the expiration date of the Premier AP will be the SAME expiration date of your current AP, so as long as your AP that you currently hold has an expiration date AFTER July of next year, you will be fine.

Also, you will get 15% off ALL dining at Disney owned food locations in the parks, as well as 20% off Disney merchandise, and 10% off at all Downtown Disney retail and restaurant locations, so the savings will be a bonus over at Disneyland.

Don't expect too much in the way of an AP room discount, though, in July. The most you will probably get is the "standard" 10% discount.

You can only perform the upgrade AT WDW, at a guest relations window.

I will be doing this in reverse. I am going to renew our passes on Saturday with Premium passes. I will then add the Premier on later for our October WDW trip.

I also did this last year with our Premium DL AP's at WDW and added the Premier on at GS at Epcot. I got two trips out of that which worked out great.

I asked about this while renewing my WDW AP in November and was told it could be done but only at DL. Is it possible that DL AP's can only be done at WDW and vice versa? Now I'm not sure what to do if we decide to go to DL in June

I think maybe they meant that it has to be done at a theme park ticket window, and can't be done over the phone or online. As far as I know, these upgrades can be done at either the CA or FL parks.

Many thanks to All! I feel more comfortable now.

I also read Premier APs can only be purchased (or I'm guessing upgraded) at WDW or DL theme park guest relations windows. I feel confident I can upgrade at WDW in February, which is where we bought our APs. If not, we'll upgrade at DL window when we arrive.

Our WDW APs don't expire until Sept. 4 so we'll be good on that.

And, after researching everything (hotel rates, airfare, etc.) we're going home in May! Yay! We'll be with family May 4 & 5, then head to DL May 6-9.

Wow, I'm totally excited. We just knocked over 2 months off our countdown

    We appreciate your help.

That's probably it, I was at MK Guest services when I asked but she probably just meant if I went to DL I could do it there.

We also did this last year. Initially purchased a 8-day park hopper while at WDW in February, while still there we decided we would be returning in December to WDW and converted that pass to a WDW Annual Pass, knowing that during our next visit/stay to Disneyland in May that we would convert that to the Premier Pass.

It was a great decision for us as it helped to spread out the payment versus paying all at once and we have made several visits to Disneyland and now have another trip to WDW to get one more use in Florida out of the pass.

It took us about a half hour for the process at Disneyland to convert the pass as they had to call Florida to confirm what we paid for the Florida pass. We have calculated between our visits to DL and WDW that our per day visit is approx $20. each. In addition with this pass, no charge for parking at DL ($15 per visit) and the 20% discount on merchandise is a nice savings.
