Default I still say Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas is a holiday greeting that is probably older than this country. Yet, it seems that in the last few years it is no longer politically correct.

    I DO NOT CARE!!!

If that little two word term offends some late coming interloper, then so be it.
Yes, Christmas is a Christian holiday, it is also a national holiday in the USA.
If it was not for Christmas shopping, most retailers would go out of business. But, too many of those retailers proclaim Happy Holidays, or Seasons Greetings.
I do my shopping at those stores that still say Merry Christmas.

    Merry Christmas, Pete!

Every year when the HR department at my employer sends out our list of holidays for the year, they always list Christmas as Winter Holiday and Easter as Spring Holiday....this makes me so upset. I take the file they send and change it to read the CORRECT way and send them on to all who want the new list....which is most people. Political correctness has ruined so many of the true beliefs this great country was founded on.

    Merry CHRISTmas to all!

I absolutely refuse to purchase anything that says "Happy Holidays".
I get Happy Hanukkah stuff for my Jewish buddies and Merry Christmas stuff for everyone else.

It's the season of good will--does it really matter if we say "Merry Christmas", "Happy Hanukkah", "Happy Kwanza" or "Happy Holidays"? As a Christian I feel there are more important principles to focus on. "Peace on Earth, good will towards men".

I'm not against saying "Happy Holidays." That phrase in and of itself is not new. The song "Happy Holidays" dates back to 1942...
What grinds my gears is the type of thing BriansMom referenced. Dec 25th is not "winter holiday" it's Christmas! It's a "Christmas" tree, not a "Holiday" tree. In my neck of the woods there have been disputes over public displays of nativity scenes. In our nation, we have freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

My point is that what I believe is not dependent on seasonal greetings or displays but what is in my heart. I would much rather focus on coming together with other faiths in peace and love than in dissention. (I know that sounds very John Lennon-ish, but that's how I feel.)

PirateLover -- another Lithuanian!!! Celebrating Kucios is one of our families finest traditions!!

One thing that gripes me even more than the political correct baloney that goes around this time of year is referring to Christmas as XMas!

    Happy Chanukkah!
    Merry Christmas!
    Joyous Kwanzaa!

    AND

    Happy New Year to all!!!!!

My sincere apologies to any/all other denominations who celebrate at this time of year!!

Agree 100% !!! I wish more people would focus on learning to all coexist instead of division.

Nothing wrong with sounding like John Lennon either, especially on the 31st anniversary of his passing.

As a Jewish person who is married to someone who is not, I am in no way offended by Happy Holidays. Why should it offend when it is inclusive of all observed holidays, where Merry Christmas specifically excludes?

Don't get me wrong, when Christmas is near, I say Merry Christmas, but I just don't understand the uproar over people saying Happy Holidays.

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza and Happy Holidays to any others that may be left out of those three.

This has never bothered me. X stands for the first letter in the Greek word for Christ.

I say Merry Christmas to everyone, and Happy Hanukkah to those I know to be Jewish. I couldn't care less what stores, businesses, or anyone else says. Doesn't bother me one iota (another Greek letter. )
