So what's up with the Adventurers Club?

It's been closed for a long time now but the building sits empty. I miss the place but if it's closed for good then why not revamp the building into something else?

The last i heard, which was several months ago, the space is used occasionally for private parties. Until Disney can come up with a better idea, it will remain standing, but closed for the vast majority of us.

Actually some of the props have shown up on the Backlot Tour so it's pretty safe to say the building is now empty

I've noticed quite a few of the props have also shown up in the new D Street shop.

So what's up with the Adventurers Club?

1) It was alive.
2) It was killed off.
3) It remains dead.
4) It's props and performers are spread all over.
5) It will remain dead.

NOTE: Sorry to sound sarcastic. But, this was a
great place to gather. It is really a shame that it
could not make enough profit to remain open. In
fact, in most weeks of the year, it lost money.
(Too much overhead, too much labor, too few
drinks bought per-person.) Too bad money got
in the way. I liked the place. Kangaloosh!

The place was full of people every time we were there. I'm surprised they didn't make a profit.
Oh well...I read where Disney made $4.8 BILLION in profits for fiscal 2011. I guess that wasn't enough.

With that said, why don't they do something with the building? Sitting vacant isn't making them any money either.

Some of the props have also shown up at Trader Sam's at the Disneyland Hotel too.

Every time we walk by we get sad :-( But no,it won't be back. Oh well - great memories! But I agree, it was packed-super busy every time we went in. Hard to believe it lost so much money.

Disney is huge on staffing. Staffing is based on projections, and the fine tuned on performance. They pay their staff really low, and still won't bring in help unless the numbers warrant it.

I'm sure that this fell victim to this. To keep all those performers in the building was expensive.

Remember it's not all about the staff you see. There are countless expenses behind the scenes, cleaning staff, buyers for consumables, costs for disposal, heating, air conditioning, the list goes on. I know when I went to pleasure island, I spent 0.0 on drinks. Spent a lot of time filling a seat at the comedy club.

I did not spend much money at these places either. I thought we paid for them with the Ticket prices. I would not expect to pay again.

I was in Adventurer's Club 5 or 6 times. I don't think I ever had more than one drink. On one of those occasions I had 2 young teens with me and they had drinks in Monkey heads, which were around $10 each. Although it was always packed, I saw many people sitting and watching with shopping bags, but no drinks in their hands. I think they were just passing through out of curiosity.

As with dinner theatre, people who are being entertained are less likely to drink. They just come in and start watching.

Maybe people did not buy drinks but didn't AC and other places bring people to downtown disney? Sometimes the idea is to get people to an area, then they will buy souvenirs, dinner ect...

I suspect people who came to AC tended to spend a lot of time and not a lot of money. Doesn't help to bring people to DTD if they only visit one venue and don't spend any money there.

Personally I think they might have had better luck with a more diverse menu. I don't drink, but I might have bought appetizers or a light meal there if it were offered. If my memory serves, drinks were all they did.

Interesting fact: Tiki Room at Disneyland was originally designed to be a restaurant. The concept was tested, and failed, because people STAYED TOO LONG watching, and the turn over wasn't fast enough to support it being a restaurant. Thus, benches were installed instead, and it became a timed "attraction."

There are still bathrooms inside the Tiki Room at DL.

Disney should have put the Adventurer's Club in Animal Kingdom, or Adventureland at MK, and turned it into a "show".

Tiki Room was just ahead of its time thats all.

Heavily themed room full of animatronics, lots of visual and sound effects, "atmospherics" and its all wrapped around a restaurant.

Gee how the heck would that work?
Oh wait... Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex anyone?

Adventurer's Club wouldnt work in animal kingdom though. Too politically incorrect with all those "trophy" heads.

It is sad that we no longer have a place like adventurer's club. It was fun and enjoyable. I miss pleasure island in general, doing the conga at midnight and the occasional almost crawling back to the bus at closing. So yes, I drank when i was there. Good times.
