Default *How Long Do Discounts Typically Last?

The current package deal runs through August, so I am trying to figure out when the next package is likely to be posted, and how long it is likely to last... It seems like the deals are usually about two months long - is that accurate?

Disney offers discounts to fill ro*oms. There's no real set pattern, although it seems like ther*e is. If they don't need to fill rooms, no di*counts will be offered, if they do, then it's p*ossible they will.

Iger is on record as saying he wants to eliminate discoun*ting. It could happen at any point. It seems to be a game of chicken right now. For the past couple of years, Disney has been blinkin*g first.

You really can't go by past history this year. Some deals last 3-4 months, some 1.5, etc. A lot of the fall/winter deals have run October-December, or they blackout October and have it run Nov (except Thanksgiving week) and the first half of Dec. But, this year they are not playing by their "normal" rules so it's completely up in the air as to what, when and if there will be a fall/winter discount. Only Disney knows. And I'm not sure they've decided.

Just to add from DisneyRox's post - That's why Disney wants everyone booking 180+ days out. Then they can see if they have to offer a discount. I'd say most people book early assuming a discount will be released later, but that's not guaranteed and if a lot of folks book far out then there's no need to offer a discount. But, if you don't book far out it makes it harder to get ADRs. Which is where they've got you.
