    Default Two questions

We plan to get the DDP on our next trip (like having food paid for in advance), but how do refillable mugs work at the campgrounds? Is there a food court-type place?

We'd like to try out the bike trails, but we'll have two toddlers. Do they rent seats for them? Do you have to wear helmets?

Yes they have a place called crockett's tavern that you can refill your drink cups in. As far as the bikes go, I have not seen anything like this for toddlers. I would imagine that the best way to do this would be to bring a stroller/bike trailer that you can use for both purposes and bring the tools you will need to hook it up to the bike you are using. The one we own came with a detatchable stroller bar to use only while it is being used as a stroller. They are very nice, however, we have to keep a pillow in the bottom of the cart for the boys to sit on because otherwise they cant seem to gain a comfortable balance but the pro is that these are really nice to sleep in and they come with covers to protect it from rain and sun.

I understand that baby seats are available for rent at the Bike Barn.

Many folks find it difficult to take advantage of the refillable mugs at Fort Wilderness. Pioneer Hall is, for most folks, a bus ride away.

If there aren't baby seats... How long are the bike paths? Would we be out of our minds to walk them?

Faline, I had wondered about that. Although if we're on the dining plan, I guess we deal. Where is the main bus stop in relation to Pioneer Hall? Would we go by on our way to and from?

When we biked around Fort Wilderness, we didn't really come across bike paths, per se. We just biked through the various loops as whim took us.

Typically one needs to take an internal but to either Pioneer Hall or to the Settlement Depot where one picks up busses to the parks depending on where one is going. You can take an internal bus to Pioneer Hall and then the walk to the restaurant area is about 5 minutes from the bus stop.

RE. The bike paths- there is a nice, paved, bike-able path which runs from the settlement area to the wilderness lodge. It's shaded, and most certainly walkable, but it's not lit, so not very useful after dark.
The path begins on the south side of the road, a hundred yards or so west of the petting zoo.

We have never brought or rented bikes at Ft. Wilderness, but we always walk the trails. Make sure you bring a stroller though. George and I walked from the boat launch to the Campfire Movie and Sing a long. It took awhile, but it wasn't too bad of a walk (and I was 5 months pregnant). But Myers couldn't have made it walking all that way. We were definitely glad we had the stroller to push him in.
