    Default Flying over Disney

I was wondering if any one knew when flying from Logan airport in Boston to Orlando International do you fly over Disney World and if so can you see it from the plane?

    Thanks

It really depends on the air traffic in the area. I've seen WDW from the plane a couple times, but it's not something you can predict. Sometimes I've seen it upon arrival, other times, it's been the departing flight. If you are near a window, just look out...you might get lucky! Look for Spaceship Earth, as it's the easiest landmark to spot.

On our last trip, we were lucky enough to fly right over EPCOT and MK. But it all depends on how arrivals and departures are being handled at MCO....

Generally, flights departing to or arriving from West locations stand the greatest chance of passing over WDW. We've passed over the parks several times on trips to/from California, Texas and Colorado. Flights to/from the Northeast corridor generally are routed along the east coastline, too far east to see WDW with any clarity.

I got this shot of MK on a 2007 flight to California from about 9000 feet. It's a little blurry due to shooting through the plane's window.

Exactly - the photo is just the MK and the T&TC area. It doesn't show any of the other three parks, the water parks, Downtown Disney, most of the resorts, and the extensive undeveloped areas. WDW owns a total of 47 square miles; by contrast, Manhattan Island NY is 23 square miles.

Cool pic! I just wanted to add we saw Illuminations (well a small portion) from the plane on our return flight a few weeks ago. The captain got on on and told everyone.

Awesome picture! Love that we can see the hidden Mickey towards the bottom of the picture. We look for WDW every time, but have never been so lucky to see it from the plane
