Default Mixed emotions from last week. Wedensday

Today is Magic Kingdom day. 2 days ago we couldnt buy a DHS bus now we caht get an MK bus.. We get to Mk and hit pirates. Oh I forgot to mention that my middle boy the 6yo got seperated from us as I parked the 3yo stroller. well he knew we were going to pirates so he went inside. Problem was that we were still outside. After a 5-10 min search here came a cm with our 6yo in tow. We all gathered up and went for a ride. I love the new pirates. Adding in jack and barbosa was well done. this needed to be done. Now on to tomorrow land. We started with FP for Buzz. Not as good anymore, prob because of TSM. Next was WED Way and Car of progress as we waited for space fast pass time. once again my 7yo loved it. as we were on space it started to rain which shut down all outside attractions.
We made our way through fantacy land and had lunch at Columbia Harbor House. This was very good, I had the fish and chicken which was cooked very nice.
After this lunch we did haunted mansion. My boys did like it but the 6yo and 3yo did not want to go back. I did like the ghosts at the end. Hidden mickey on the ball room table.
Wife and I left the kids with my parents and took off for EPCOT and our ADR at the Coral Reef. We both felt the rest was a little too loud. I ordered the lobster ravioli and my wife got the ny strip. I was rather disappointed in the ravioli. It was very plain and underwhelming. Add on to that a weak drink, the wrong soda delivered, and a dessert that left something to be desired and you have a dinner I will soon forget. My wife, on the other hand loved her steak and her dessert. Go figure.
After dinner we went to find a spot for illuminations. We walked from Mexico to US. At US we took in 3 songs by Hotel California and thats when the lightning started again. We did not wish to get cought in that so we headed for the boat to the boardwalk to catch the Brewers game at the ESPN Club. Well I forgot that game 7 of the NHL was Wed too. The place was packed. I did find one TV tuned to Fox Sports Wisconsin. Would you know it that it was raining in Chicago and the Brewers/Cubs game was delayed.
So, we left and quickly went to Jellyrolls as the rain was ready to open up. Oh I forgot, did you know Disney stops boat transportation in a thunderstorm? Seems better to have your guests struck by lightning than a boat.
At Jellyrolls had another overpriced, watered down drink. There was a group from Chicago sitting in front of us so I made a request ad put on the note a message harassing the Cubs. When my request came up the piano player said it was a tribute to the cubs and chicago. Not what I wanted. I want my tip back.
We cought the bus to downtown and then to POFQ. wow did the rain come down. Time for bed we have ADR's at tusker house in the morning.

Too bad the Coral Reef dinner wasn't what you had hoped. Boy, you're having lots of rain on this trip!

Summer in Florida can make predicting the weather a little tough...but you sound like you're making the best of it!

I know about the lack of boat transportation during thunderstorms. This is something that isn't dicsussed much, but can really hinder those who stay at the Epcot Resorts. For those who aren't strong walkers, it can be a real pain trying to get out of a park and back to your resort.

What i don't know about is watered down drinks. Never had one at WDW. It's really odd to hear your experience. Maybe the piano players poor attempt to accomodate your request made your drink seem less tasteful.

I've not been able to figure out the bus on demand system in place now and have had a similar experience of seeing every bus but the one we want (Of course, if we had seen the one we wanted, we wouldn't know how many other busses came through after!).

Sorry the rain put a damper on your day!

You guys are getting lots of rain. That always puts a damper on a vacation. We've eaten at Coral Reef once, and the steak was the only outstanding dish out of everything we ordered. The other food we had was good too, but odd that the steak was the best thing in a seafood restaurant. I hope despite your meal, watered down drinks, and the rain you and your wife still enjoyed your "date night".

Thank goodness you were reunited with your 6-year old so quickly outside of PotC and that you enjoyed the changes they made.

Rain, rain, go away! This sounds like our trip of two years ago when quite literally every day of our 15-day trip we had to use our rain ponchos - and a supreme amount of patience.

Perhaps date night didn't go exactly as planned, but it still sounds like you were able to enjoy some time with DW. I hope tomorrow is a dry day for your family!

A couple more bad turns, but the worst of all was the inadvertent tribute to the Cubs.

Actually, it must have been a scary moment to be separated from your 6yo, but the kid seems like he knew whom to approach in that crisis. There's something to be said for that.
