Default Poachers Storyline To Leave Kilimanjaro Safaris????

Some online reports state the poacher sequence and storyline will be leaving Kilmanjaro Safaris and will be replaced with a zebra viewing section... I hope this is true!!!!

I agree. That storyline is stale for those of us who've been on the safari more than a few times. It just doesn't have the same staying power, at least for me, as other ride storylines do.

Makes sense, the poacher effects haven't worked in eons... Probably easier to put the zebras in that area than have to maintain the effects. I wonder what they are going to do up on Everest? Maybe a bird sanctuary and another bat cave?

would be fine with me...anything to freshen the story up would be welcome...actually we don't even listen to the spiel anymore, now we just kind of ride the loop and watch the animals.

MY Last trip in August there was no poacher story. The guide just gave some new information about the animals and enviroment. It was really a good change IMHO.

I kinda like the poacher story. The entire ride we are off chasing poachers and need to save the baby elephant. IMO it gives the ride a little needed "action"

See, I have the completely opposite opinion. It's a safari ride with tons of animals in a semi-natural environment. Isn't that exciting enough? Everything doesn't need to be a thrill ride.

Wait... a ride without a story?! Some imagineer's head is expolding somewhere. If it is going to be a more "pure" animal viewing experience why not lose the falling bridge effect too?

BTW - I don't think losing the poacher storyline is a big deal. I could go either way.

I can't remember the last time I rode and that worked as well.

My impression has always been that the poacher storyline is there so the ride is interesting if you don't see many animals. And depending on the time of day, weather, and other variables, you can run through most of that ride and see almost nothing. The ride designers would have wanted to account for that circumstance and provide *something* to make it worth having gone on.

I agree that the concept isn't really holding up, and it's time for a plus-up. Be interesting to see what they come up with.

The story really lost its appeal when they eliminated the guns the cast members would hold next to the poacher's truck and then finally when the cast member was gone altogether.

Perhaps a story is necessary, but the poacher tale is preachy and unnecessary. I highly doubt that WDW guest ivory consumption needs to be reigned in.

So I guess this is going to become another "packaged" ride -- no more driver interaction, just a canned spiel over the speakers about what animals are coming up next? And what about the video as you are going through the lines?

Maybe the poacher storyline is a bit stale, but it fits the safari...

Doesn't surprise me.. Disney is having trouble finding help in general. Finding people that can handle the safari (think walk and chew gum) must be a real stretch. I haven't been on a decent safari in a number of years, once I actually had to talk with Guest Relations about the driver.

If they can it, at least it will be consistent I guess. Boring, but consistent. I would guess, this move will single handedly bring re-ridability to close to nil, contributing even more to the mass exodus of poeple shortly after lunch time.

An update will be great. The animals are the focus of the ride.

KS is not a one and done attraction. Animal activity varies and 2-3 rides is essential for a day at AK.

An update would be very welcome! LOL, last time we were there we were making jokes about the Little Red storyline.

Rox, right on about Everest. The bird doesn't work, the Yeti, etc. Such a disappointment. I've always felt that ride to be a masterpiece. Makes me sad that so much is not operational right now.
