Disney has fishing excursions available which includes a boat and a guide.

You can also fish along the canals in Fort Wilderness.

Any fishing at Disney World is strictly catch and release.

We actually saw a guy last weekend fishing in the lake at Coronado Springs. I'm thinking this isn't technically allowed?

Melanie, that's my understanding as well though I know someone on Intercot recently posted that fishing is allowed from any shoreline in Disney.

Based on my conversation with Disney World Recreation and information posted on the mom's panel, it appears that Disney does NOT allow fishing from any shoreline. They DO have fishing excursions that folks sign up for. Other than that, fishing appears to be restricted to Fort Wilderness and Port Orleans and there are rules around fishing in those areas as well - incluidng what sort of bait is permissible.

Try searching on Lake Tohopekaliga - Also Known as Lake Toho

Lake Tohopekaliga has become such a hot spot for bass fishing that it was chosen as the site of the first 1998 Forrest L. Wood (F.L.W.) bass tournament event.

Enjoy a day of Bass fishing while listening to the sounds of nature on one of the Central Florida / Kissimmee area's most beautiful bass fishing lakes. West Lake Tohopekaliga (Toho) in Kissimmee / St. Cloud is just minutes from Disney and many of Orlando's other world-famous attractions. Still Toho remains one of Central Florida's most beautiful, unspoiled treasures. West Lake Toho is a 22,700 acre shallow lake with a length of 13 miles and a maximum width of over 4 miles.

West Lake Tohopecaliga (or "Toho", for short)
•produces more bass over 10 pounds than any other lake in the USA

I'd grab a ride over to POR and for a nominal fee you can fish there.....it's very laid back, off the dock kinda fishing....no world record small mouth bass caught there, but fun for the kids !!

I've done the fishing tours half a dozen times. The last couple were a bit dissappointing as far as fish caught. I've done Bay Lake, Seven Seas, World Showcase and Cresent Lake. The best day was on Bay Lake. It was a fall day. The summer trips were way less productive, likely due to higher temps. I've used the live bait shiners and they probably work the best but I prefer artificial baits as thats more fun for me. The guides I've had have been a variety from Missy who just love to fish to a young guy who came from Alaska and kinda fell into the job and my first guide who was very knowledgeable about the ecosystems and we talked at legth of the way the waterways were built and how they are maintained. Interesting trip and they were all very fun to spend a few hours with. But I had my best fishing days with Missy and Three different lakes.
The other sad point is the price, $250 for 2 hours, (10% off for those staying on property) has become a bit excessive for my wallet as I go by myself and have no one to split the cost with. I hope to go this August but again, my luck has not been good in the hottest summer months.
