We have stayed at POR, BC, WL, and SS since this has been up for debate and We have had NO bed bugs. All you have to do is turn off the lights, lift the mattress up and shine a flashlight under there. If you see bedbugs, ask for a new room right away before your luggage enters the room. You will be fine. I worried about it irrationally, at one point in time, and I have had my mind at peace about it. No worries.

I didn't know that, about shutting the lights first. I have been checking by walking in the room and lifting the mattress looking for bugs or droppings, but I haven't shut the lights first.

I been checking with the lights on too! LOL
By the way, my friend who is a regular WDW visitor and Disney lover too said she and her family did see bed bugs on one of their visits last year. For the life of me...I can not remember which resort it was though! I'll have to ask her again. Either way....(I think it was a value) they told the resort and were promptly moved to a new location...no questions asked. They said their second room was fine. So yes, I think it is worth checking no matter where it is you are staying. I always forget though when we are going out of town to swim meets! We are always so tired by the time we get to the resort that I forget to look! Got stop doing that!

The best kind of flash light to use is a blue illumination flash light, per my better half. He is an Orkin Tech.
The thought of bed bugs freaks me out. We are going in Oct....and he'll be inspecting the room, like always.

We stayed at ASMu this January and we saw some maintenance guys debugging a room.It was one of the freeze units so it was kind of obvious what they were doing. At least Disney is on top of this and they are getting rid of them the correct way.

stayed at POR bayoui at least 6 times never saw a bug but I do always check before the luggage gets there.

I have stayed at Saratoga Springs, Caribbean Beach, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I've never had a problem at any of those resorts.
I am confident in Disney's efforts to keep the situation under control.
That being said, I would definitely speak up if I ran into a problem. I would be moved to another room at once.

He says "look for little tiny drops of blood"...eww. This is coming from previous bites. Also, if you check the seams of the beds, lifting the seams up and down. They are little white things that show up best with an ultra-violet light....that will make them dark blue and they should be moving. Also check the corners where wall meets ceiling and floors.

what a lovely post! kidding of course. never thought to even check on our trip last nov. but will probably be checking next time down. obviously something disney would have high on their priority list of daily "to-do's"....

I now check every time I stay in a hotel anywhere! It's becoming more and more of an issue in the United States.
And, once infested, getting rid of them can be very expensive and quite a nightmare!

I'm going to the doctor today to find out, but I just got back from a 1 night stay at Riverside and 5 nights at BWV. What I thought was an allergic reaction on my chest, appears to be bed bug bites. Since it is limited to one area, I'm thinking it may have been at Riverside. Is this something Disney would want me to report? Will they actually act on the information?
I always check hotel beds, but I didn't bother with it on this trip. Figures...
