CALIFORNIA is gone

A lot can happen in just one week. Last week the CALIFORNIA letters were there. Today to my surprise....they were gone. Instead there is a wall.... more walls. The entrance to DCA is now in the form of one line that a CM will then direct you to one of the open ticket gates.

I guess this is all part of progress for the DCA refurb.

We were there too on Saturday and thought that the front looked weird. I am sure that it will be fantastic when done, but still weird. We didnt even bother going over to DCA to check out the "new" entrance.

We went to DCA yesterday and found the new wall/line set up to be really bizarre. Walking into DCA just feels SO weird right now. Open sight lines everywhere!

At least they have new concept art on the walls and pictures of the old cartoon characters from the 1920's and 30's, which is cool to see.

Hopefully they can use the letters somewhere else.

Also I was wondering when this phase of the refurb is scheduled to be complete? Is going to be finished before Carsland?

I already miss the letters. They were one of the most photographed parts of DCA. Odd to remove a "Kodak moment".

Because it doesn't "fit" with the new theme of 1920's Los Angeles. The new entrance is going to look very similar to that at the Disney Hollywood Studios park. The letters would have really not worked, theme wise.

I am so happy that we got to see the CALIFORNIA letters. We took a single photo with one of us posed with each letter. If I ever go back it will definitely seem strange with no letters.
