From the Burgh to WDW 12/17 to 12/23 Day 3
Day 3
This turned out to be both the coldest and our longest day of the trip. We started bright and early at AK. Checked out their christmas tree before getting in line for the park opening at8:00am. At opening the kids went to EE. They got FP's and rode it. I pushed Pap there and then all 4 of us rode it. The kids went to PW while Pap and myself got a hot beverage. Once the kids came back we rode EE again. EE was prety much a walk directly on, there was no need for the FP's since it was so cold. We decided to go to Camp Minnie Mickey as we wanted to see the characters in their Christmas attire. On our way we stopped and met with Pooh and the 100 Acre Wood Gang. At CMM we met up with Turk, Donald, Minnie, Mickey and Santa Goofy. We decided to leave AK and go to Animal Kingdom Lodge. We grabbed breakfast at Mara and checked out the resort and of course the christmas decor.
we took a short break and went back to our resort before heading to the MK for the last night of MVMCP. Once in the MK we walked on POTC before making are way back to Crystal Palace for our dinner ADR's. We had a nice dinner considering the Steelers were playing and we were missing the game!!!But the funny part is we didn't miss much of the game. We were updated constantly by other fans or one staff member working in the restaurant. Even though the Steelers lost it didn't ruin our night as this is the second game we have missed due to a Disney trip. The first being in 2008 and that day they also lost to a team from New York. But keep the faith Steeler Nation as they won the Superbowl that year. After our ESPN updated dinner we went to get our bracelets in Tomorrowland. From their we went and toured Toontown.
After a family vote it was detemined we would start MVMCP again with the 7 Dwarfs. We got in line a little after 6:00 and we were 3rd in line. After pictures we went CHH for Hot Chocolate an then to HM, BTM and POTC. We stopped to see Aladdin and Jasmine then Lilo and Stitch before grabbing some more Hot Chocolate since it was soooo cold. We got a spot in the Hub to watch the fireworks. After the fireworks we did a little shopping on Mainstreet and then took a spot on the Train Station Porch to watch the 2nd parade. The parade was great again but boy was it cold. The Train Staion area didn't even fill up and until 10 minutes before the parade was to arrive the street below the Train Staion was empty. After the parade we decided to call it a night.

You sure accomplished a lot on a cold Florida day! Were the crowds smaller on this night?

You guys seemed to have a lot of character time! Glad to hear the cold didn't keep you from having a fantastic day!

Actually the crowds were a little larger this night compared to the 17th, but not by much. We were a little petrified going in knowing both nights were sold out. When we walked past Liberty Square for the 1st parade it was pretty packed compared to the 17th when we watched the 1st parade there. I think the cold weather really effected the crowds on this night (19th) as the crowds really thinned as the night went on.

The cold certainly does affect the party - I remember attending a very cold party a few years back and must admit, I, too, left earlier than I might have otherwise done!
Still, you're managing to accomplish lots!

Even though I've read many reports in recent weeks about how cold it's been at Disney World, I still can't wrap my head around it. That was a great idea in the morning to tour AK & then head over to AKL to warm your bones up! I got a kick out of reading that Pap rode E:E too. Good for him!
Sounds like hot chocolate was the needed beverage of the day and evening. Another fun, albeit cold, day with your family. Phenomenal about the 2nd parade and how the crowds thinned out . . . must have been brrrrr!
