Just to let you know we just checked into a newly refinished room today! Everything is brand new - we're the first in this (particular) room. Bldg 7 is completely finished & full!

    That's great! Enjoy it.

Glad to hear those rooms are getting rehabbed. Really needed it, IMO!

I have put my room request in for building 7. The photos on-line of the new rooms look much nicer than that of the old rooms. With POFQ charging more for a King bed room, I am so glad they went with Queen size beds in the rooms. One question. Was the new paint and carpet smell too strong?

I will be arriving at POFQ on Friday. I originally requested building 4 when I booked the room back in may. I haven't done online check in yet,do you think I might be able to call WDW tomorrow and request building 7 on my Ressie, and then also request it on my online check in? Do you think it is too late to request a building preference change?

No, I do not think it is too late. I was told they typically do not start assigning rooms till the day before, but it may happen as early as 3 days ahead. I would call as soon as possible though.

So, they put queen size beds in POFQ? Anyone know if Riverside is getting refurbed anytime soon?

Just saw pictures and I think the rooms look great. Definitely more modern, upscale than the old decor. We just stayed here in Oct. and now I want to go back to see the new rooms. We are staying at WL for Mardi Gras, but now I'm second guessing if we should save some money and stay here instead. I've searched online a bit and every site I looked at seems to indicate that they did upgrade the beds to queen size! I think these upgrades will be wonderful for the moderate resorts. I hope Riverside gets a refurb soon. I thought their rooms needed it much more than French Quarter.

Whew, I just checked out a few photos, and the purple bedspreads are a bit much for me. Hopefully the pics I saw were just a bit bright. I think I'm just destined to not like FQ.

Funny thing is, purple is my favorite color and New Orleans Square is my favorite 'land' at Disneyland. LOL!

And honestly, I'm disappointed to see they didn't put in privacy doors like they have at Coronado Springs, as opposed to the curtains. The doors really help with the light and the noise.

Agreed, I saw a few different pictures and in some the purple was way too bright for me as well. However, in other pictures it was very pretty.

I think your right, your just not destined to like FQ!

I read that they will start on Riverside as soon as they complete French Quarter (around April).

We just book POFQ for August of 2011. We have never stayed there. They are refurbing the whole place right?? So we will have a "new" room by the time our trip rolls around?

Yes, the whole resort is being refurbed. Then, they are moving on to Riverside. I think the purple and gold is beautiful. I can't wait to get there in 41 days! I've requested a refurbed room, but I think I'm switching my request to building 6. They just started working on it this week.

Hello again - the purple isn't too bright. It goes really nice with the gold/yellows & Mardi Gras theme. Yes to the queen beds although still not as comfortable as DLX beds. Nice flat screens that twist from left to right although not many HD channels??? Work started today on Bldg. 6 so figure about 25 days per bldg - then onto Riverside. Saw a bunch of workers but no noise since everything is interior.
    Next trip...Fall 2010.

Woohoo. I'm excited we just got an AP rate for there in March. It's only for one night due to better flights. We were a little disappointed we could not get POR, now I can't wait. Thanks for the update.
