    Default WL or no?

Going on a quick Disney vaca...planning for end of Jan, beginning of Feb. 4 people total going.

We are thinking Wilderness Lodge (never stayed there before). Is this a good choice? I'm thinking we will miss being along the monorail....

    Decisions, decisions.....

    Thanks for any advice!

I think you'll love WL, especially for the dates you are going. There is just nothing like walking into that warm, wonderful lobby after a chilly day in the parks. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. LOL.

We loved staying at the WL. Of course, we are absolutely addicted to the AKL, but WL has that same grand lodge feel. The rooms were great, and its really neat to walk around the wooded grounds and be by the water. I think its a great choice, away from the hustle and bustle of the monorail hotels.

(But try AKL if you've never stayed there...its awesome!)

Its great place to stay anytime, but its an especially nice place for the chilly times of the year (I know chilly is relative for Orlando). But the fireplace inthe lobby gives it a nice feel when you come in from a day at the parks. The theming is superb and its easy to get caught up in it and feel you are in one the great western lodges.

Love it. We are going to WDW in January. We usually do the WL but did the Poly this time because I am running the marathon and it is a little easier to get to the race and back using the monorail.

Nothing like heading over to the MK in the Conty in the morning on the boat. It is very peaceful.

I have stayed there once and loved it. I have been having trouble getting back there since it is always booked. This time I booked a year out so I could get a room. I'll be there in 12 days and looking forward to it.

Love WL! Monrails are overrated. (Don't hate me) Actually, it's been so long since we stayed at a monorail resort that I don't really remember much about it.

It doesn't matter much anyway. There is a nice boat to take you to MK. If you want to ride the monorail, take the boat to Contemporary.

Love WL's main lobby, and especially love the furniture throughout the resort. I took pictures of lots of it and intend to make some of it. When I get the time.
Officially too many trips to list here!

WL is the only place my wife lets us stay now - the boys are old enough as well to enjoy the bunk beds - we get inner courtyard view - also enjoy the boat to MK. It seems everytime we are on the monorail all it seems to do is stop. Our first (and last) excursion to see the gingerbread house took 2.5 hours - 1 of which was on the monorail (truth). The 12 year old will not let me go back along with the wife - 12 year old response upon arriving at gingerbread house after 2.5 hours: That's it? - youth these days - no appreciation!

We actually just had our first stay at the WL and we LOVED it! After having stayed at almost all of the delux resorts, my sister and I had decided we like the monorail resorts the best. However, when we went to book the trip, standard rooms at the other resorts were all booked.

We liked the idea of the WL because of the close proximity to the MK and we were not disappointed! It was nice to have the choice of a bus or boat ride to and from the park.

And as for the hotel itself, it was beautiful! The themeing was top-notch, the pool was great and the wooded surroundings were very relaxing.

Excellent choice! Especially at this time of year. Warming by the fireplace... Very quiet and relaxing and still not very far from the action. (just a short boat ride if it's not too chilly).

WL is our favorite place to stay. Never miss the monorail. the boat is great and if you time it right you can se the fireworks on your return trip. the grounds are fantastic. One of our favorite things to do is go up to the fireplace on the second floor and curl up on the couch and take a nap. So relaxing... fire ..big comfy chairs..seems likek you are all alone in a big cabin.
