Default Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2 (release dates Nov. 2010 & May 2011)

So..looks like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be 2 films..I am torn on this one. I am happy that they will be able to fit in the whole story..but am not sure if I want to wait 1 year between the films! Any opinions?

It is definitely gonna be a full year between films? I think it would be better if they released the second one 6 months later. Either way, I am happy with the decision because I hate the way the stories have to be so chopped up to fit within the time constraints of your typical movie.

No way!! I haven't been checking HP boards lately and totally missed this news!

Any word on a director yet? I heard David Yates name being thrown around again. I'm still trying to get over the debacle of movie 5.

I just heard about this on the radio a few minutes ago. I wonder if they will film them together like Lord of the Rings?

At least it isn't three years apart like PotC and then the last two a year apart filmed together like someone mentioned. After finishing the series recently, I can see how they can't leave a lot out. Order of the Phoenix could have been a two-parter on that account. I'm kind of glad it will be on-going. And interesting that it seems to be around when they want to open Wizarding World HP at Universal, hmmm.....

I was happy to see that they are going to be making the movie into 2 different films. I've been annoyed with most of the Harry Potter films since they have cut so much from the books. I would hope with 2 movies they would be able to add alot. I'm also really hoping they don't remove Dobby from the movie he plays a pretty big role. For some reason they seem to like turning Dobby into Nelvil. First with the Gilly weed to help Harry breath under water then with him finding the Room of Requirement lol

Umm... Interesting? I don't understand how any of you guys can actually sit through these. I'm sorry but Harry Potter just isn't my type. Those movies and books are WAY too long for me. When i look on my tivo to find that Harry Potter is on HBO for 3 hours i just can't believe it. I am interested on how this movie will turn out. I have read the ending to the last book so i guess i am ok.

I enjoy the Harry Potter films, but have never read any of the books. When it comes to turning books into films they usually end up having to condense the stories quite a bit to fit into a 2 1/2 hour movie. While I'm sure that is part of the reason for the two Potter films ... I can't help but think more has to do with just squeezing as much money as possible out of the last film.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I'm bummed to hear that they're going to split the last book into two movies. The last book was my least favorite out of all seven and I don't see any reason to give it two films. I just think the studio is doing this to expand there profits as after the last book is made into a film there is nothing left to make!

With the movie being that far away, I sure hope Daniel isn't too old to play Harry by that time. Just kidding! I know they are filming it now but that is such a long time to wait! I'm still not over the fact that there are no more books!

For those of you who haven't read the books, now that you have seen the movies, go back and read the books. You will be astounded at how fast they read (can't put them down) and how much more interesting the books are than the movies.

Really? I feel the opposite - there's too much in book 7 - and they'd have to cut a lot of it out from the movie.....

They should have also split Goblet of Fire into two movies as well (my humble opinion!)

I agree about the Goblet of Fire- there was too much action and special effects and not enough of the story line added into the film. It bothered me how long they spent on the dragon chasing Harry and it wasn't even in the book!

We go for the first showing tomorrow morning! We bought our tickets last week but were warned to show up early since they figured seats would be going fast.

The kids in our area have tomorrow off, lucky for them.

My DH and DS have a Boy Scout sleep-over tomorrow night, so I have tickets for 11:30 Saturday morning. Hopefully my DH will have gotten enought sleep with a group of Cub Scouts so that he can enjoy the movie. DS, 8 is staying home with a sitter while we take our two teenaged girls. This is about the only thing that would get them up that early on a Saturday morning. LOL.

Default Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - is IMAX worth the extra $$?

Because of other commitments, DH, DD10, and I won't be able to see the new movie until Sunday. The last couple 3D movies we saw weren't too impressive to me, so I'm wondering whether it's worth it to see this in IMAX.

If anyone has seen it in IMAX, please let me know what you thought. I don't want to know any movie details (what's in, what's out, where it stops, etc.), I just want to know whether you would see it in IMAX again.

    Thanks!
    Tammy

We saw it in a regular theater last night, but right in the middle, I remember thinking, this would be really cool in IMAX.

I saw it at midnight, and I loved it! I would have liked to see some more things added in (that were left out), but overall I thought the movie was well done. I'm already looking forward to seeing it again (most like once in IMAX as well).
