Default If you are sending a package to BLT

We had read conflicting reports about what happens to a package you send to BLT for an upcoming trip. So we went straight to the source(DVC) for an answer before we sent our package. We were assured that a package sent to Bay Lake Tower would be at Bay Lake Tower for pick-up. Please be advised that this is not the case. When we arrived for check-in at 7:10pm we were told that our package had to be picked up at the Business Center...which is open from 7am-7pm 7 days a week. Not a huge deal-unless of course you send your toothbrushes and toothpaste in that package...

I'm assuming they charged you $10 to get the package out of impound also?

The charge was $5 dollars-which is better than $10-but DVC didn't tell us that either when we called. But like my DH said when he got back to the room: Did it really cost them anything to keep the box for a day? We've been doing this at AKV the last few years and it's available at the front desk when you check in at no charge.

This only happens at certain resorts. CSR being one of them as well. You can get those packages when you arrive not matter the time if you ask for the manager. I always need my boxes as they have formula and diapers in them...the manager does not like getting the package but they will do it.

It happens at the resorts that have convention centers as both the Contemporary and Coronado Springs do.

I have always been aware of the nominal fee that the conference hotels charge at Disney, simply because I've had firsthand experience with it for work conferences (shipping product down ahead of time).

Interestingly enough, while we weren't charged a handling fee for a large box we sent to WL in July for receiving it, we were told by WL front desk personnel upon checkout on August 7th that they would not mail our box home (shoes, laundry, plastic cups, etc). It was fully packed & taped, but they would not touch it. We've been mailing a box home each year for several years, and have never run into this before. We were counting on simply paying shipping and handling charges to get the box back home.

They explained that we needed to go to the CR Conference Center during the hours of x and x, and additional fees would apply in addition to shipping. The conference center was closed at the time of our inquiry, but they told us we'd need to take the boat over to get it done the next day.

Instead of wasting time doing this on our last day, we left a lot of toiletries and such in our room to fit the more important stuff in our suitcases. I think we'll continue to see more of this as airlines raise their baggage fees - Disney wants a piece of the pie, too!
