Disney Store Merchandise Card

I had a friend ask me a Disney question I didn't know the answer to-GASP! So, I of course had to rush over and ask the "experts". My friends at INTERCOT.

She recieved a merchandise credit on a gift card from the Disney Store. She wants to know if she can use the card toward her vacation payments or at the parks. Any info would be great.

My understanding is that Disney store gift cards are different from Disney gift cards and can't be used outside the store.

Last I saw.. Merchandise credit are very different than a Disney gift Card.
