We already have our airline tickets, and I just purchased our Disney tickets online. I'm wondering how to purchase the DDP? Do we buy it when we check-in? Thanks!

The dining plan is tied in directly with your resort stay. If you are not staying on property, the DDP is not an option.
So, I guess the question is : where are you staying?

Even more than that. The DDP is part of a package, including the room, park tickets and the DDP.
So, to add it (unless you're a DVC member I believe) would require that you buy additional park tickets, which you don't need.
This is the correct answer. It's part of a package, your tickets are probay non refundable, so your probably better off passing on the DDP unless you want to save those tickets (or don't mind spending a few more bucks and getting everyone a couple more days of park tickets.
If that's the case, you'll need to call whoever has your reservation (Disney or your travel agent and inquire about upgrading it to a package. This must be done prior to arrival, you absolutely can't add the dining plan at check-in.
Spoke to mother-in-law this morning, I think we're okay. At least I can hope! We are staying at OKW using their RCI points. They went last year in the same fashion, used RCI points for VWL, purchased airfare direct from Southwest, and called Disney (she thinks she called WL) to add the DDP. And all was well.
If it doesn't work out, we'll probably be canceling 5 of 7 ADR's, and at least I'll know that somewhere out there, another party of 6 will be very happy to get an ADR at some hard-to-get establishments.
MIL is going to call WDW in the next few days...I'll update with what happens...
