Default Free DDP vs CM discount?

Our family of 4 will be staying 6 nights at the BC in December. This is during the Free Dining package time. Also, my brother is a CM and can get us a 50% discount on a Room-Only reservation. We will have to pay OOP for tix and food.

Which do you think is the best option? Free DDP package or CM discount?

The 50% off the Beach Club will be the better deal. If you went Value then free dining.

Price out the room and the dining plan and see which way you should go. The dining plan is approx 42.00 per day X # of days X # of people. We are staying in August at AKL and we chose the dining plan as we saved about 880.00 as opposed to only a couple hundred with a room reduction of 40%.

The CM may be able to get you a slightly discounted AP, which would then make you eligible for the TiW card ($75 I think), which may work out better for everyone.

Only need one AP to get the card.

Depends on the dining you intend on doing.

A CM discounted AP isn't all that discounted, but it's something, may not be available anymore, but you need to ask them. They can probably get you MYW tickets too, used to be able to just go with them over to a Company D store and pick them up. I think the CM has to pay for them, so write them a check in advance for them to put in their bank account.

Just for clarification, if your brother is staying in the room with you then you'll get 50% off. If he's just booking the room for you it will be 40% off. This changes of course if there is a special like they have for the summer which is 60% off castmember and 50% off friends and family.

If you're staying at the BC, I think the CM discount is better. IMO.

For a standard room Beach Club is $390 per night for the first half of December, then goes up substantially (on December 17th), so even in the early part of the month a 50% discount on the room is better than Free Dining.

    In your case:
    4 people (assuming adults) * $42 * 6 = $1,008 savings -- Free Dining
    $390 * 50% * 6 = $1,170 savings -- 50% room discount
    [$390 * 40% * 6 = $936 -- 40% room discount (per plutolovr)]

Everything depends on the percentages and the ages of your family members....

I think depending on where you're staying, the room only discount is better. We're staying at POFQ with the 40% military discount, and purchased the DDP, and it was cheaper than paying full rate for the room and getting the DDP for free.

Can we purchase the DDP separately, even with our room-only CM discount? I thought you could only get DDP with a package through the WDTC?

Probably not... You would need to ask the CM if that's possible. THere hae been times when the DDP could be gotten with CM discounted rooms, but those were the exception, not the rule.
