Fanning the Flame

The Flame Tree Barbecue has been announced to close for a 5 week refurbishment in Late Summer 2010. The popular Animal Kingdom restaurant is scheduled to be closed August 9 through September 19, 2010. At the time of the announcement, there was no information to the purpose of the refurbishment.

A New-ish 19th

The restaurant at Disney’s Osprey Ridge Golf Course has recently undergone several changes. As of June 20th, the restaurant shortened its name from “The Sand Trap Bar & Grill” to “The Sand Trap”. In addition to the name change, the restaurant now offers a small menu of sandwiches & salads and a full bar. Hours for the modified location are 10:30 am till last group return, daily.

El Meet y Greet

7/15/10 Although later than anticipated, the new permanent Donald Duck Meet & Greet location in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion has been completed. The new location features a detailed Mayan ruin backdrop including a large wall and several statues and pillars. Cast are also reporting that the new area will allow for a more formal queue during Meet & Greet times.

5/14/10 Character cast have reported that Donald Duck can be found for daily Meet & Greets at Epcot’s International Gateway during the construction for his new Meet & Greet area. The new permanent Meet & Greet is expected to open near the end of this month.

4/21/10 A new permanent Meet & Greet location for Mexican Donald Duck is currently under-construction in Epcot’s Mexico pavilion. The new location is expected to feature a photo backdrop, prop, and queue area. The area is expected to open in May 2010.

Stars from the Screen

Character Cast have reported that characters from the upcoming feature film “Tangled” are in-process of being brought to Walt Disney World later this year. It has been internally announced that Rapunzel and Flynn are planned to make appearances at Walt Disney World. Although not part of the announcement, it is being speculated by Character Cast that the two characters will begin appearances in the Magic Kingdom in Late Fall 2010.

Fastpass Switch-Up

On-going Fantasyland construction has recently affected the FASTPASS procedure for one of the area’s most popular attractions. The FASTPASS distribution area for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh closed on July 7th due to on-going renovations of the attraction queue. As a result of the closure, the near-by FASTPASS distribution area for Mickey’s Philharmatic has been re-opened and is being used to distribute FASTPASS’s for the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It has yet to be announced when the FASTPASS distribution area at the Winnie the Pooh attraction will re-open.
