Default Upcoming trip good news/bad news

Well we're just 44 days out from our first WDW trip as a family of four and I couldn't be more excited! There have been a few early disappointing things that have popped up, but overall, I anticipate a potentially wonderful trip in the making.

    The bad news:
    1. Toy Story Mania will be closed during my trip. Not only are we going to miss out on the relatively new and most popular ride, I'm guessing that the crowds that would normally be in line waiting for this ride will be dispersed among the remaining DHS rides, thus increasing the wait times. No way of proving that of course.
    2. Another disappointing closure is IASW. I was looking forward to riding that with my kids.
    3. Finally, it appears that the last MSEP will be taking place the night before our arrival. This was also something I really wanted the kids to see. If I didn't already have nonrefundable plane tickets, I'd alter the trip to see it. Oh well.

    The good (wonderful, magical) news:
    1. We saved a TON on the trip by getting the free dining plan. Woo hoo!
    2. Space and Splash Mountain will be open. Those would be HUGE disappointments if they were closed. 10 days to fit them in too.
    3. Port Orleans Riverside seems like a great place to stay. Looking forward to it!
    4. We're going to WDW! (Seriously, I can hardly believe it!)

I'm so happy for you! It all sounds fantastic, except for the closures. That's a bummer, but not major. TSM is a pretty great ride, but there are others that I would consider more devastating to my plans-- though, nothing's a deal-breaker. You're going to WDW!

TSM's closed again? They just were to install the new scene that really wasn't that different other than it didn't have Bo Peep in it.
Too many trips to keep track of now! Vacation WDW twice a year so any questions ask freely ☺️

TSM did not close for the scene change. It was done seamlessly overnight, as it was a programming change, not a physical one.

This closure has something to do with safety railings, or some such thing, that needs to be installed. This IS a physical change and cannot be done with visitors using the facility during the day.

Did you happen to book Southwest for your plane tickets? If you did, you can change your flights for no fee even if the tickets are non-refundable. You would just have to pay any increase in price difference for the new flight (or you would get a credit if the new flight is cheaper!). That might be a way for you to get to see MSEP!

How wonderful that you're finally returning to Disney - with all four of you! I remember when you talked about this 'way back when' - and it seemed like it was so far away. Time sure does fly!

Despite the TSM & IASW closures, I know you'll have a fabulous time!

    Cool

I believe that just being in WDW with your family will more than make up for the closures....and give you a great reason to schedule another trip to the "World"!
    Have a fantastic vacation!

Wow. Sounds like I'll be there at the same time.
Me, my sister and her daughter will be at AKL
08-14 to 08-22. I'm bummed about Toy Story. I don't usually go to HS so I've never done it. The only day we could go would be the 14, our 1rst day there. We have MK planned for that day (with TS ressies at The Plaza). At least we'll get to see MSEP. My sister and I remember seeing that in 1978 together for the first time.
It was playing in 2000 also and we caught it then too. I have no opinion of IASW.

My exact thoughts when I was reading the post. I am always looking for another reason to plan another trip to WDW.

I think we will be arriving there the same time as you and I was kind of bummed with the closures too. But, with TSM at least, I figure I won't feel the pressure to rush over and get a FP first thing in the morning. I guess you can look at it that way. lol

Also, I thought I saw that they were extending MSEP?? I hope so because DH and I really want our girls to see it. Off to go check...... EDITED to say that I think I just heard this as a rumor somewhere and I guess I just WISHED it to be true.

Keep me informed if you hear anything! That would be great if they added through Labor Day!

We are going the exact same time and we're upset b/c IASW is my 7yo DD's favorite. We haven't been since she was 3, so she is totally bummed. After this trip, we probably won't make it back for another 4 years. But like you said - at least we will be at Disney!!!
