    Default Which would you pick?

If you had a choice for dinner from

    Grand Floridian Cafe
    O'Hana's
    Kona Cafe
    Wave
for dinner which would you choose. Im looking for dinner the first night and we will be in MK for the day. MK closes at 7:00pm. We will be having our usual first day at MK Casey's lunch around noon time. We are open to anything else that is pretty close as we will be tired from traveling. We are staying a POR. We are trying to avoid Signature dining so we can have TS almost every day. We have had Kona Cafe for breakfast and Ohana's for dinner but it was a long time ago. We also ate at a place at the contemporary but it wasn't called the wave. Is this the same place?

No, the Wave is probably not the same place you ate before. The Wave replaced the Concourse Steak House which closed but it is not in the same location the Concourse occupied. The Wave is actually located where the arcade used to be. We ate at the bar at the Wave last week. I had a pork dish which was delicious!

I like all the restaurants you've listed but would likely pick the Wave based on the food I most recently had.

My choice would be GF Cafe. It's one of the best 1 ts experiences at WDW, for me. It's a lovely, relaxing experience. 'Ohana is also a lot of fun, but it can be boisterous and take awhile, and you mentioned you will be tired from travel.

'Ohana, hands down - but I LOVE 'Ohana. Do you not want a sit down meal inside MK? You could get a late seating and walk out to an empty park when you were done.

It is not a trip to WDW for me without dinner at 'Ohana! I do love the food, the atmosphere, the decor, the atrium of the resort itself. Gorgeous. Later at night, there will be fewer families there, so if might have quieted down a lot. What you could do when you check-in at the counter is ask to be seated on the side by the bar, rather than where they do the actual grilling if volume is an issue with you. Personally, I like to be in the main part of the room. It's fun. I would choose here.

My next choice would be the Kona Cafe. I've had a lovely dinner there as recently as this last March. Great food, lovely desserts, warm environment. Either restaurant at the Polynesian Resort would be a great start to a family holiday at WDW. Have a great time!

As much as I love Kona, it's not my top pick - here's my list in order of priority -

    GF Cafe
    Kona Cafe
    'Ohana
    Wave

I put GF Cafe first because of the relaxing atmosphere (you said you would be tired) and the consistently good food. Kona is second because of the great food, but it's not as relaxing because the restaurant is open to the Poly lobby (which I do love), so it's not as relaxing at the GF Cafe. 'Ohana can get noisy and you can have a wait, even with a reservation, which isn't fun when you're tired. I've never eaten at the Wave, so I put that last. Plus, the food is a little, well, foodie, which can be too adventurous for some.

GFC it is!! But I think I will try to squeeze in Ohana for later in the week. Thanks all! I don't hear too much talk of GFC so I wanted to make sure it was decent for our first dinner in the world

"You chose wisely" (to borrow a line from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade movie) - GF Cafe is wonderful!
I would choose Kona second too, then O'hana, then the Wave (not too impressed with this one).

    Have fun

GF Cafe or Kona Cafe are good choices for the end of a travel day. A little more low-key than some of the others, but with very good food.

Ohanas is good but I'd go with the Wave since I'd really like to try it.

Just make sure your ADR isn't too late or you won't get a bus back to your resort...

Concourse was one of our favorite meals. i miss it terribly! I had the best bbq glazed shortribs over cheesy polenta on our last visit before they closed. Haven't forgotten it yet!

The busses run for an hour after park closing. If you find that you finish very late and the busses are no longer running or you are just too tired to go back to the MK to hop a bus the taxis are cheap and a quick trip back to your resort.

We are trying the GFC for the first time on our upcoming trip.

If you did Trails End over at Ft Wilderness, and you time it right, you could maybe catch one of the HDD busses right back to your resort.

I've found TE to be a nice meal, it's on our must do list. It's a good value if you need to pay OOP for a meal as well.

They also have a movie at night if you're looking for something to do afterwards.
