I was in WDW in June, and you had to line up for 45 minutes, the CM would close of the line, the characters would meet those in line, leave, and be back in an hour. I did appreciate the actors though. As the stepsisters/mother were walking to their area, they interacted with guests and Alice.
It's been that way for years. It's safer for the characters this way. Also, the meets have to be timed

I have been to 1 party so far and I am very excited to see some "new" at least to me characters- last year we waited very very long for snow white and the 7 dwarfs and then didn't get to do too much more after the fireworks and parade due to ds6 being really really tired. I agree with everyone that they could change things up.

the old hag is a great addition to the halloween parties!!

Over 1000 characters are lurking down there and yet only 70 or so are out. Of which 65 are your typical same old same olds. Funny thing is that we will see Gepetto, Timon and Rafiki multiple times in different places. Why????? Can't they simply use one Rafiki and one Robin Hood instead of two Rafiki's? Or one Gepetto and one Shan Yu, instead of having multiple Gepettos? I get the multiple Donald's, Goffy's, or Mickey's but not other marginal characters.
I was walking by the crystal palace, and you could see pooh. yet pooh was also on main street. how? why are there princesses in world showcase, when they are everywhere else...so sad

Here comes the know it all...no it hasnt been that way for years. there are no rare characters. also, its kind of pathetic when you see single 30 year old men waiting hours for characters, and they arent even out yet. safe? i think dull...

Yes, it has been that way for years. The characters have been meeting in set locations for at least 5 years now. Yes, it is safer for the characters because now they won't get mobbed (the way they used to). And they have to be timed because it can get extremely hot in FL, and it's wrong (and inhumane) to make the characters be out longer then supposed to be.
And I don't think it's pathetic for people (even adults) to wait for the characters to come out.

I have had similer experiances several times. I remember once walking and seeing Minnie Mouse about 200 yards from another.
Loads of trips since 1974...

Hmmm.....
I don't think "everyonesmadhere" meant that adults looking for characters was creepy . I think he or she was just saying it feels a little "stalkerish"and I can see that. Of course you cannot lump all mid 30 men into that category. I know some great people who fit that category who are harmless. I guess some would even put me in that category when I am scouting for characters and my sons are playing somewhere else as Daddy waits.
I do agree with the statement that there a no rare characters anymore. Although on occasion we meet one. However it is usually because of a special request and not becuase a rare character was out in the parks. I think all any of us character fans want is for Disney to once a week or so put someone really special out, like the 3 pigs or a villain whose been in hiding. I cannot preach it enough, and I know I am starting to irritate myself with this but there are just so many great characters that do not see the light of day!
On another note we have been going multiple times a year since 2003, 7 years ago and the characters have been in set locations ever since we started going. I do understand that it was not like this years before. However you were justified in calling Joanna a know at all. That is becuase she knows what she is talking about .

Yes, I know that she knows what she's saying. But she has a bit of an attitude on some posts. I know they are in set locations, but the same character is in the same locations, everyday. I did not mean that these guys are creepy, actually what I was trying to say is that there is so much waiting, and waiting these days. I waited longer to see Tiana than the wait time for Splash Mountain.

Where did I ever post with an attitude? I don't feel I ever did. I'm sorry you feel that way though, so I appologize
