I'm always looking for new authors to read inbetween my favorites - or even better new favorites! I'd love to hear what others are reading.

A few of my favorites are, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Jasper Fforde, Christopher Moore, Charlaine Harris and Jim Butcher.

I love Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austen, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Dean Koontz, Julia London, Kathleen Givens, Janet Evanovich for a laugh. Recently discovered Molly Harper (funny vampire romance). Christopher Moore is also fun.

One of my favorites is JD Robb/Nora Roberts. She writes in 2 different styles. The JD Robb ones are set in 2059 & 2060. The Nora Roberts ones are usually current time and place. Both styles are great.

Um, cheesy romance? Is this a particular romance sub genre I have not heard of, perhaps? Is there cheesy science fiction, cheesy mystery? What makes one slap the cheesy in front of say, romance, and spare other genres the derogatory comments? There are cheesy books in all genres, not just in romance. Tami Hoag and Dean Koontz have both written romance. Obviously not the cheesy ones, whatever that is.

Well, I don't read fiction, so the first two that come to mind are Stephen Ambrose and Bruce Catton.

I wouldn't take it personaly Sherri. I mean Ian is always putting down accountants calling them "bean counters" and such and I don't get offended.

Okay, you're right. I don't write cheese anyway. Gosh, I mean, I hope not. I know there is some cheesy romance, but like I said, there is cheesy fiction in all genres.

    F. Scott Fitzgerald, Edgar Allen Poe, John Grisham, Margaret Mitchell, Hemingway, JK Rowling (I'm a huge Harry fan!), Charles Dickens. I loved VC Andrews in high school! Love Stephanie Meyer Twilight series, I plan to add our Sherri to the list!

Funny story, I used to work for an insurance co. that insured MH Clark, that woman had more jewelry than God!

I ditto you on Orson Scott Card. I love David Eddings' books, but he recently passed away so he won't be producing any more. Jon Krakauer always writes interesting non-fiction.

And thanks for all the input everyone! I'll enjoy taking a peek at the authors mentioned and giving some a try. I also loved the Harry Potter books and John Grisham's books.

Also Stephen King, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, James Patterson, Dan Brown, Thomas Harris, and David Baldacci ... just off the top of my head, anyway.

Lately I've been reading mostly non-fiction stuff, though. I'm working my way through all the bios written by the members of the Band of Brothers right now.

Scar, you should definitely not be offended by my calling accountants bean-counters.

You should be offended by what I say about your being a Mets fan.

I just finished Corsair; as usual, couldn't put it down.

I don't have any particular favorites, but I do prefer the ones that feature Dirk Pitt and his NUMA cronies. I haven't read them in any particular order, although I do keep a checklist of all his titles and which ones I've read. His latest, "The Silent Sea" was just released March 9th, and he has another on June 1, "The Spy".

I've found a few of his books confusing but near the end you have an "Aha moment" where it all suddenly makes sense.
