Day 7, Friday 1/29, CBR
Tom – husband and dad, and up way too early!
Me (Amy) – 38, mom and planner
Jacob – 11, very surprised kid
Today we got up and headed to Animal Kingdom again. Jacob suggested we start the day with a ride on Expedition Everest. I don’t know what it is about the backward section of the ride, but I start giggling helplessly at that point every time. We wanted to see Finding Nemo The Musical, mostly for my benefit, since I had left early and missed it on Day 5. We had time, however, to take a trip on Dinosaur. As usual, the picture at the end shows me cringing and Jacob with his hands over his ears.
After Dinosaur, we happened to see Goofy and Pluto with a very short line in Dinoland. Since Jacob is the Goofy guy we lined up. Seeing characters isn’t Jacob’s thing any more, but he’ll make an exception for Goofy. We figured we would get a picture of all three of us with the characters. But before we could get into picture formation, Goofy had to hug the heck out of Tom! You see, he was wearing his new “Hairy Guys Rule!” yeti t-shirt and apparently Goofy has a special place in his heart for hairy guys. Poor Jacob couldn’t even get his attention for a while. Goofy’s handler didn’t know why he was so happy with my husband until Goofy started petting his own arm to show that he was hairy too! It was really funny.
Finding Nemo was enjoyable as always. The only thing that makes it a little disconcerting to me is that we have the soundtrack of the musical at home. I bought it at the Intercot 10 Year Anniversary party, right after a bunch of us saw the show en masse. We’ve listened to it quite a bit, and I find myself wanting the musical to sound the same every time. I know that’s unrealistic, given the changes in the cast members. It’s still a great show.
We meandered our way back to Discovery Island and caught a bus to CBR. I was heading for a nap and Jacob and Tom were going for a swim. After I woke up I checked on the boys, who were having a good old time going down the big slide. I explored the cay for a bit. The whole area has changed quite a bit since we were there in 2005. We enjoyed the changes!
Our dinner destination was ‘Ohana, and I was really looking forward to it. We arrived in plenty of time. It was 6:00 pm and it didn’t seem busy at all. Tom took one look at the price we had to pay for Jacob, the “adult”, and got a little grumpy. I left him sitting in a lounge seat and went to the bar. The accommodating bartender suggested a drink for me, after hearing what I like. It was something very nice with vodka and cranberry and something else. My drink didn’t make Tom less grumpy, but it did make me care less about his mood! I think we were all happier when we started eating. I ate everything but the pork, chicken, and beef. I focused on shrimp. It was a good call, really. I was able to eat a good share of the bread pudding! And Tom was much more mellow at the end of the meal.
We took the monorail back to MK, but just went straight to the bus stop where our bus was waiting! Home to bed.

Interaction with us "big kids" is sometimes the most fun of all, isn't it?! Glad you had another enjoyable day at AK. Honestly, I'm still trying to get my two guys to wait in the horrendous line for Nemo in the middle of the summer. Some day . . . !
Yeah, the price is a bit outrageous for our young adults at Ohana, isn't it - especially if they aren't uber-hungry (or aren't big eaters in the first place). My DH usually starts out the meal grumpy because we have such a long wait after our scheduled ADR. Me, I have a Lapu Lapu to deal!

We were just listening to Nemo yesterday, thanks to the copy you gave me after the ICot meet. It's funny because the girls haven't seen the show yet, but they practically know the music by heart. We will definitely need to plan on seeing the show this summer.
I'm glad to hear you liked Ohana. I tried to get reservations for June but it's booked solid (we're doing Hoop De Doo instead). Oh well, maybe next trip.
