Default Will the Fantasy land refurb keep you away?

I was just wondering is anyone not considering not going to Disney during 2011 and 2012 due to the upcoming Fantasyland refurb/upgrades/expansion. We love going to Disney every year, but my DH thinks that it will be a waste of time and money to go if the parks (magic kingdom) are going to be under major construction. Just wondering what other fellow Disney lovers think and if this will keep you away or you will still go.

I spend very little time in Fantasyland as it is, so it really doesn't have much effect on me. I never go to the Toontown area. I would definitely keep going to WDW, and much of the MK (the parts that I love most) are unaffected by it. Though maybe more crowded with some of Fantasyland down. Keep in mind, though, that they will be keeping parts of Fantasyland open while other parts are down. There will still be plenty to do in the MK.

I tell him the exact same thing (there will still be plenty to do in the MK). I understand where he is coming from because we have two toddlers. I will just keep trying to sell him on the idea. I can’t imagine a year with out Disney. I know that I still have plenty of time to work on him. I guess I will just have to keep him updated on the progress. Maybe that will change his mind. Keep your fingers crossed.

Nope. Not having kids with us (they are grown), we spend maybe a total of 10 minutes in Toontown anyway. I'm looking forward to November!

I'd rather miss it, but our fall 2010 trip had to be postponed to fall 2011, so it sounds like we'll be there in the thick of it. And since we're already a year behind, we will NOT miss or delay our trip again.

Hopefully, Fantasyland will still be at least partially enjoyable, refurb or not.

With everything to do at WDW we would never miss a trip. I am looking forward to the changes and expansion, just wish they would bring back Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Ditto for me. I really thought the none of Fantasy Land would be closed for the rehab, only Toontown. What in Fantasy Land would be closed eventually?

Absolutely not! Nothing could keep me away from WDW. We don't spend too much time in fantasyland as it is so not a big deal. There's so much else to do!

With the exception of Goofy's Barnstormer we don't even venture into Fantasyland...I think they intend to keep GB open.

I don't think anything could keep me away...it's the happiest place on earth after all

The only thing that could keep me away would be if World Showcase were shut down.

....nope, there are still WAY more things to do, however it will be missed (a little) not enough to forego going till it's done....Disney is always evolving, so we just go and watch the upcoming progress.....

Definitely not. A good chunk of Fantasyland will still be open anyways so its not that big of a deal. We are excited to see the changes.

When Fantasyland at Disneyland was redone back in the 80's they closed the entire land. Construction went much faster and we had our New Fantasyland in just one year. I wonder why they don't close it down and get it done instead of stretching it out over almost 3 years (probably money)...

I'm not too worried about it. I'm sure Disney has already addressed this concern. They may close off large sections and risk taking a dip in park sales during construction. Or decide to do light construction during operating hours. Keeping smaller sections closed off during the day and busting out the heavy duty stuff at night when the park closes.

But I don't think the construction will affect anything.
