I too was extremely disappointed by the finale. I also felt there were too many unanswered questions. I knew half way through this season I wouldn't get what I wanted in the end. I do miss it terribly, despite the shortcomings.

If they threw out all of the flash sideways (which were really just flash forwards), another lie by the writers, and actually covered some of the history of the island...what is the MIBs NAME for goodness sake. How about Crazy Mother? Why do pregnancies abort? They didn't originally. What's with all of the Egyptian symbolism? Too many things were just thrown out there and ignored. I could go on and on. I never expected everything to be answered, but really. Nothing at all?
I don't know if you saw online but the MIB name was Samuel (someone had gotten a hold of an original script)....but his name wasn't important as I think Man In Black made it an easier way to explain Yin and Yang. I just think it was a way to incorporate all religions/ideas etc. by using people and relationships.....
The entire show was based on religions/concepts etc. If you even look in the last scene in the show when Jack is talking to his father all the "symbols" are on the back window....
I really think that MIB and Jacob were just used as a Yin and Yang concept. The only thing I can say abou the Crazy Mother is that she is the one that created the Yin and Yang relationship between the 2 brothers......
early pregnancies aborted....i believe it had something to do with the magnetism on the island. But women who were far along in pregnancy did have the babies..hence Claire and Jacob and MIB's mom.
I know some answers weren't directly given. But everything is up for interpretation.
I mean look they have everyone thinking and talking about it
I think they did a great job.

I thought I read somewhere that the statue that was destroyed by the Black Rock was an Egyptian fertility goddess statue and thus babies conceived on the Island didn't make it.

But then how did Ethan get conceived and born on the island? WHEN did it change and why? Couldn't have changed when the Black Rock took out the statue....because Ethan was way after than. So I guess it must have been attached to the nuclear event like every thing else so they could write it all away.
