WDW Christmas Parade

I'm watching the disneyworld parade on abc right now, its a holiday tradition i think we all celebrate. Anywho, during the opening performance with the Jonas brothers I couldnt help but notice they covered up the partners statue under a pile of fake presents. What's their deal? theres an overall lack of his presence in the company that bears his name

The Disney Christmas Parade is not live, it is taped at the beginning of December over 2-3 days. If you look closely at some of the takes during the parade it is very sunny and folks watching the parade are in shorts and tank tops/tees and in other takes it is more overcast (although we noticed that Disney has tried to make the sky look blue - not very well as you can detect a white "halo" around some buildings and people!) and folks are mostly wearing long sleeves and sweatshirts!

Still lots of fun to watch from home and pretend we were there instead of in a blizzard in Kansas! Maybe if I close my eyes and click my heels 3 times...

BLT was amazing! We had a bay lake view and could actually see EVERY park off in the distance. LOVED being able to walk to MK and to also be able to hop the monorail to EPCOT or the other monorail resorts. Be sure to head up to the members-only lounge on the top floor to watch the fireworks. You just need to stop by the lobby and let them know you want to go up and they will escort you to the elevator that takes you up.

I noticed the same thing. I was thinking, "Man, thats right where the Partners statue is." I guess it was in the way. Makes you wonder why they didn't just put it on the castle stage.

Other stuff was going to take place on the Castle stage so the stage needed to be a different location. This is not the first time that has been done. Partners statue couldn't be moved so they worked around it with props.

About 1/3 was taped on Thursday and then Friday / Saturday was cancelled because of rain on Friday. The balance was compressed into a one day taping on Sunday.

One thing to bear in mind when watching, the sequence that you see it in is not necessarily the sequence that it was taped, so weather differences will show up more than if it had been taped in sequence of on consecutive days.

Does anyone know why Regis wasn't hosting the parade today? We missed him!

Also, we noticed there was no Miley Cyrus. Is she no longer under contract with Disney?

When the parade was taped, Regis had just had surgery.

If I recall correctly Regis is recovering from hip replacement surgery.

This is the first time I have ever seen the parade and I only caught about 15 minutes of it. I did notice at the end that it said that part of the show was taped in Disneyland and part was taped at Disneyworld. Do they do this parade every year? I had never noticed before because we are normally busy with family going to church, eating brunch, opening gifts, and then later heading to my mom's. This year no one could make it to our house due to blizzard conditions here in Kansas so we had some free time to watch TV but only caught the last 15 minutes of it. Will definitely watch for it next year if it is a yearly thing and will also record it to watch later in case we are busy with the usual activities.

I thought the parade was great today, but it seems like they are trying to attract teens too much with all of the music. What do you all think?

Did anyone else think what's her name that was "narrating" the parade did a terrible job? It was like the worst job reading a script I have ever heard. Pretty face, not so good with the words.

While watching I couldn't help but want to be there.....we did Chirstmas / NYE there last year and I had sorta "sworn it off", but now I'm re-thinking that....it wasn't much more busy than what we saw this past June.....cool, hot, cool, hot.....I'm starting to think the cooler weather is much better !!! ...

Was really bad yesterday....we live in the county and were able to get into town but getting home was awful.....the snow was blowing and drifting...6-7 feet high in some places. We barely got down our road to get home last night. This morning the road graders were trying to get down the road to clear it but a pickup was stuck and abandoned right in the middle of the road. The owners finally came back and the grader helped them get the truck unstuck. It then went on to plow the rest of our road leaving an 8 foot high wall of snow at the end of the driveway. We have no idea how much snow we have gotten but suspect at least 12-15 inches or maybe even more. How about you all? I think you all got even more than us didn't you?

Thanks for the additional info! I knew that they did not tape things in sequence but it was interesting to hear that they had to compress taping this year due to weather.
