Live report Dec. 22: neanderthal wirh an iphone

Walk to Studios from Swan at opening. Chilly morning in mid 40's.
Hustle to Toy Story Mania. Dd n I ride while DW get FP for later. This area is a zoo in morning.
Ride twice on the day ( neanderthal man good shooter, beat daughter twice).
See Am Idol show. I was not looking forward to this but DD gets what she wishes - show was very cool! Man grunts approval n claps once!

See beauty n beast.
All major fp gone by noon Park is crowded but not closed.

back to Swan to head to Downtown then to dinner at California Grill.

Good day for a neanderthal! Even better day for Neanderthal's daughter!

Update 8pm:
Downtown Disney was packed this afternoon, it took quite a bit of lot circling to find a spot. Stores were prety crazy with last minute shoppers.

Then to California Grill. Wow! Sat right by the window with an awesome view of MK. Food was incredible - I had beef filet, DD had pork, DW had grouper (can you believe it? She willingly got fish) not a corndog, but great food although a BIT more expensive! I did ask the waiter if It was allowed to order a beer instead of wine. He laughed at my Neanderthalness, took away the long wine list n brought a bud n a glass.

By the way, the new Mickey wreath on the Contemporary is huge and very cool. Worth the trip!

Now off to Epcot for Illuminations!

After Illuminations we sat n let the crowd clear then we walked from Terraced area by france back around the World Showcase. The WS was practically deserted n so cool to feel we were alone there. I wonder, is this how those of you who travel in off seasons see Epcot???? Very neat.

Cought last boat leaving Int Gateway, had boat to ourselves, n back to Swan.

We were at the Studios this day as well. You aren't kidding about the crowds! We did TSM twice this day as well. Did the same as you, I stood in line w/ DDs while DH got FPs for later. Still waited about 25min at park opening, but well worth it!!

The line for TSM peaked at 160min at about 3pm!!!! Thank goodness for FPs!!!

I haven't seen the Studios this crowded in a very long time!! But still enjoyed the day!!

Great day, Jeff. Sounds like you're managing the crowds well. Good to hear of your experience at CG - some of the reports have been less than stellar lately. Unreal that you found a quiet piece of heaven at EPCOT this close to Xmas - WOW!
