I'm using the OtterBox Defender case and I can't recommend it enough. I've dropped my phone a couple times getting out of the car (onto asphalt) and at least once onto my granite kitchen floor iPhone looks like new. The case is still in good shape too. It is a $50 case however...
I use that case to and it is awesome. The only case I know of that totally protects the phone, with covers over all the ports and the silence switch. I install ceramic tile and it works great keeping dust and splashes of water off the phone.

There is an app called AT&T Mark the spot which says is an application that provides customers a means to provide feedback on network user experience to AT&T. It is a free app.
one of the features is "submit a report of dropped call, failed call, lack of coverage, data service failure, or poor voice quality".

I have an iphone -- and I am using it on T-Mobile. Yup. That's right. My DH unlocked it for me (he fried his trying to figure it out, but he didn't want to use his anymore anyway). I've had it unlocked since the summer and it works fine on T-Mobile. The only problem is that I can't do any upgrades or it will lock up again.
We hated, hated, hated AT&T. Dropped calls constantly. So frustrating. They are way too expensive to have such horrible service. We are fine on T-Mobile and they are way less expensive. Plus, they gave us free phones and all sorts of upgrades as incentives (DH is now using a free G1 phone and he loves it). We now pay much less than we did on AT&T and we have unlimited everything.
This is just hearsay but my brother works for Verizon and says the iPhone is coming in Feb. or March 2010.
Yesterday a Verizon employee (granted a front line salesman) told me that Verizon IS NOT getting the iPhone. Something to do with control over customer data or something...
Wow, I have to say... living in Canada, I'm usually jealous of all the things you can get in the US that we can't get here! However, on the subject of the iPhone, I feel like we might be getting a better deal?
Not only has my bf has never had any problems with service/coverage, but it's also offered by multiple carriers (although this is a fairly recent development) - Rogers, Bell and Telus, to name a few. Now if only we could get The Cheesecake Factory, and maybe some Edy's ice cream...
Many trips as a child!
