Default Best time for cruise with kids

A friend of mine is thinking of going on a cruise next year. She has 2 young daughters, both under 10. What's the best time to go on a Disney cruise? I know it depends on specifics but what are some of your favorite times to go and why? She was thinking of May. Thanks

We've done two 7 day Disney cruises in February. It is a wonderful time of year to travel and no hurricans to worry with. Plus, the rates are reasonable as closer to school breaks the prices go up. Also, it is still warm and not unbearably humid. Our children go to year round school, so they are off the last week of January and the first two weeks of February. So that is why we chose that. However, we just got back from a 3 day Bahama's cruise and it was fine too - except much more humid.

I was also wondering the same thing..when is the best time to go? Is the ship always full no matter what time of year you choose, or is it like visiting the park where it's less crowded at a certain time? Also, if you go in Jan/Feb is it warm enough outside to swim in the onboard pool and go to the beach at Castaway Cay?

We've been on 2 cruises in February and one in January. The onboard pools have been plenty warm on each trip. The water at Castaway has been on the cool side, but you quickly adapt to it. Air temps on all of those "winter trips" has been very comfortable; seldom a need for anything more than a light sweater or jacket.
