I usually fly Southwest and get the best deals right on their website.

Agreed. Most of the airlines now post the best deals on their own individual websites. It's a hassle to check them all as opposed to a "broker" site but that's where the deals are now found.

I personally check on Kayak so I can see everyone's rates then from there they take you straight to your chosen airline website

I do the same thing. They also have a fare watch feature so you can watch for price trends over a few days/weeks before you book.

Another Kayak fan here. I also do a separate SW search, since Kayak doesn't have SW.

I used Kayak first time last month to book an AirTran flight and it was great. It let me pick seats without getting charged the seat fee. Just make sure to select AirTran itself as where to go to from kayak so you can put in stuff like your rewards # and any vouchers, etc.
Another thing to do is get that Ding! download from Southwest, and also sign up for SW rewards.

I book on Southwest. I got round trip tickets for me and my husband for 164 each. We only paid $67 each way. We were very lucky to find such great prices.
