Default Visa Discount in Downtown Disney without using Disney Visa

I would like to use my Visa rewards card to purchase myself a purse in downtown disney at the shop that gives the discount to Disney Visa cardholders. (can't remember the name)
Do I actually have to use the visa to get the 10% discount or can I just show the visa and put the purchase on my rewards card?
Does anyone have experience with this?

We were there this week and the clerk made a point of saying we had to use the VISA card. No big deal as we had planned to use it anyway.

I think they used to let you just show your Disney Visa and you could pay anyway you'd like. But I know the last time I used that discount I was required to use my Visa.

You should be able to use your rewards card as payment and get the discount. This from the website:

    3. Must use your valid Disney Rewards Visa Credit Card, Disney Rewards Debit Card, or Disney Rewards Redemption Card as payment form and mention this offer. A $50 minimum pre-tax single transaction merchandise purchase is required to receive discount.

So did they change this? When we were there in 2007 we just had to show our card. Oh well I will probably just use my card in order to get my discount.

I only have about $150 on my rewards card. Do you suppose they will give me the discount, let me apply $150 to my rewards card then charge the rest to my room?

Yeah, I maxed out my Disney Visa.

Although I don't know for sure, from the official guidelines for the offer, it appears that you have to pay for the whole amount with an eligable card.

Just as an FYI, they are offering the 10% discount for any purchase $50 or more at any retail place that sells Disney merchandise. We were in the World 10/10-17 and were able to get the discount at numerous places. I did have to ask for it most places, but they were happy to honor the deal. The only place I had a problem was the shop in France - the first CM did not know about it, but someone else came behind her and showed her.

Disney did not make this change, Chase did. They wanted the interest/fees/etc. for using the card. I do not understand why this was not always the case.
